Ranching is a family tradition for the Albaugh's who have owned and operated Frosty Acres since 1937. Frosty Acres, located in a pristine valley in Northeastern California, raises quality grass-fed Shorthorn Cattle. Our grandpa purchased the purebred Shorthorn cattle in 1946 and we are very proud of our heritage. Genetics from our herd can be traced back to the 1820s via the American Shorthorn Ass

ociation’s original two herd books. In doing so, our registered Shorthorn cattle qualify for the “Native Program.” The Native designation is distinctive and unique as there are less than 500 animals in the US that have been identified to qualify for this program. The Shorthorn, because of its ability to efficiently convert forage and its proven marbling and early finishing characteristics, is the ideal breed for the production of choice, gourmet grass-fed beef. We believe you will find our grassfed beef to be of the finest and highest quality you will find anywhere. All of our cattle are raised on native grass and forage, breath clean, fresh mountain air, and drink from crystal clear streams and springs from the surrounding Cascade Mountain Range

Another successful Golden State Star Party is over! Thank you friends for coming to Big Valley and sharing your love of the dark skies with all of us. As always, our GSSP attendees were a blessing to our family and our community. Drive safely, sleep well and we look forward to seeing you in 2015!

The EPA's new definition of Waters of the U.S. would require cattlemen to get permits for daily activities such as grazing! If you are a cattle producer or involved in agriculture, take a few minutes to tell the EPA that you want them to .

The EPA and the Army Corps recently proposed an expansion of their federal authority over “waters of the U.S.” The new definition of “Waters of the United States,” would require cattle ranchers to get permits for routine activities like grazing cattle.

Make sure your voice is heard. Submit comments to EPA here:

Happy Earth Day!

We are looking forward to seeing our friends at the Golden State Star Party June 25-29 2014. Mark your calendars everyone :)
