We’ve always believed that our job as farmers goes beyond growing grapes. When you slow down and pay attention, this place will show you just how alive it really is and we take enormous pride in that, while also feeling the weight of the responsibility that comes with it. This land is home to countless creatures: a family of wild turkeys, nesting birds, birds of prey, coyotes, bobcats, a badger, bunnies, and yes, even the gophers. It’s a living, breathing ecosystem, and we’re just one small part of it. Our goal has never been to work against that, it’s to work within it.

Because of that, we don’t approach this land with control in mind, but with responsibility. Everything here is connected; the cover crop, the insects, the birds, the soil beneath our feet. Every decision we make, from how we care for the soil, to what we plant between the rows, to how we move through the vineyard, is guided by the understanding that what we do has an impact far beyond the vines.

We’re guests here, and it’s our responsibility to care for it in a way that allows it to keep thriving long after us.

Happy Earth Day!

This is where the vintage truly starts. Not in the cellar. Not at harvest. Right here.

Budbreak is one of the most anticipated moments of the entire growing season, and honestly, one of the most nerve-wracking. After months of quiet dormancy, the vines are finally waking up, and with every bud that pushes through, the story of this vintage begins to write itself. It’s the official start of the 2026 vintage.

Right now we’re walking the vineyard every week, watching each block closely. Some vines are just beginning to swell, others are already pushing leaves. Each variety waking up on their own timeline. It’s one of the things that makes this time of year so fascinating to watch.

Here’s the thing about budbreak that most people don’t know, timing matters enormously. Too early, and a late frost can wipe out an entire year’s growth in a single night. Too late, and the vine loses precious growing days it needs to fully ripen the fruit by harvest. It’s a delicate balance, and nature is the one calling the shots.

This is the part of farming that reminds us why we do what we do. There’s something deeply hopeful about watching life push through old wood — the same vines, year after year, starting over again.

We’ll be out here watching over them every step of the way. Follow along as we take you through the full journey of the 2026 vintage, from this very first bud all the way to harvest.

Pruning is one of the most important decisions we make all year, and we don’t take it lightly. Every cut is intentional, setting the foundation for how each vine will grow and ultimately express itself come harvest. As we wrap up our last few blocks, there’s a quiet satisfaction in knowing the work we put in now will carry through the entire season. We are looking forward to the 2026 growing season!!
