Now THAT'S a filter change.

Our technician snapped this picture during a recent service call. The filter on the left is the one we removed. The one on the right is the new replacement.

Quite a difference, isn't it?

Filters don't stay clean forever. Regular filter changes help keep your water treatment system doing its job.

Did You Know?

Your Water Softener Needs Salt to Keep Doing Its Job!
Not sure when it's time to add salt? Checking your brine tank regularly is one of the easiest things you can do to help keep your water softener working properly.

Take a look inside your salt tank. If the salt level is getting low (less than a 1/4) or you can see water above the salt, it may be time to add more.

You may also notice signs around your home that your softener isn't keeping up:
β€’ Spots returning on dishes and glassware
β€’ Soap isn't lathering like it normally does
β€’ Water doesn't feel as soft
β€’ Mineral buildup starting to appear on faucets or fixtures

One important tip: Don't just keep adding salt without looking inside the tank. Salt can sometimes form a hard crust or "salt bridge," making the tank look full even though the softener can't properly use the salt underneath.

So, here's your challenge for today:
Go check your salt tank!
Is yours:
FULL
HALF FULL
GETTING LOW
I HAVE NO IDEA!

WATER FUN FACT: FALL EDITION

Fall is right around the corner! Soon we'll be watching the leaves change from green to beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and brown.

But there's one thing that shouldn't be changing colors with the leaves... your water!

If you're noticing yellow, orange, or reddish-brown staining around your sinks, toilets, tubs, or fixtures, iron in your water could be the culprit.

Here's the fun fact:

Water containing dissolved iron can actually come out of your faucet looking clear. Once the iron is exposed to oxygen, it can oxidize and create those familiar orange and reddish-brown stains.

Let the leaves change colors this fall, not your water!

An iron filter is designed to reduce iron before it travels throughout your home, helping reduce staining and improve your water quality.

Thinking an iron filter sounds expensive? You don't necessarily have to purchase one outright.

Sieler's Water Systems offers rental and lease options, making it easier to get the water treatment your home needs without a large upfront equipment purchase.

Not sure if iron is what's causing your water problems... it could be tannins.

Call 517-265-2029 to schedule your FREE water analysis and ask about our rental and lease options.

Everything looks good to me!
🟠 Orange or Rusty
Iron may be contributing to discoloration or staining.
🟑 Yellowish
There can be several possible causes, so testing the water can help determine what's going on.
βšͺ Cloudy or Milky
Sometimes this is simply tiny air bubbles, but if it doesn't clear up, it's worth investigating.
🟀 Brown
Sediment, iron, plumbing, or changes in the water supply could be contributing factors.

Bonus points if you tell us whether you're on CITY WATER or WELL WATER!

πŸ’§ **Did You Know? Salt Is an Important Part of Keeping Your Water Softener Working Properly!** πŸ’§

Your water softener relies on salt to regenerate and continue removing hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium from your water.

If the salt level gets too low, your softener may not regenerate properly, and you could start noticing signs of hard water again.

πŸ‘€ Keep an eye out for:

πŸ’§ Spots on faucets and fixtures
🍽️ Cloudy dishes and glassware
🧼 Soap that doesn't lather as well
🚿Hard water buildup in your shower

πŸ’§ Did You Know? A Rotten Egg Smell in Your Hot Water May Not Be Your Water Softener. πŸ’§

If you notice a rotten egg or sulfur smell only when using hot water, your water softener may not be the source of the problem.

In many cases, the odor can come from your water heater, where sediment, naturally occurring bacteria, or a reaction involving the anode rod can create hydrogen sulfide gas, the source of that sulfur smell.

πŸ’‘ If the odor is only in the hot water, a water heater flush may help. If the smell continues afterward, the water heater may need to be inspected by a qualified plumbing professional.

While Sieler's Water Systems does not service water heaters, we're happy to help determine whether the issue is related to your water treatment equipment. If it appears to be your water heater, we can refer you to a trusted local business for further service.

πŸ’¬ Question of the Day:
🚿 Does the odor happen only with hot water?
πŸ’§ Or with both hot and cold water?
