Today was extraction and bottling day on the farm. The drought severely impacted the quantity of honey this year, but I’m very pleased with the flavor.

We’re fully stocked at the farmhouse with quarts and pints. We’ll work to fill the stock at the Law Office of Sarah Young this coming week. We’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts on our 2026 honey!

Good Monday afternoon!

We currently have an abundance of eggs in the fridge at the farmhouse. If you’re looking to make your famous deviled eggs for your Memorial Day picnic, we’ve got you covered.

We have an extremely limited supply of honey at the moment, but I’ll be extracting later this week. We should have more of our 2026 Wildflower honey ready for the holiday weekend. If you’re out and about on Friday, stop by the farmhouse and say hello. You can even try some of the honey fresh out of the extractor.

Happy Mother's Day from Fulton Creek Farms. 🌸

Today we're thinking about all the moms — including the ones who keep things running without anyone fully appreciating how much work that takes.

Like the queen bee, who never stops working, keeps the whole colony alive, and does it without asking for a single thank you.

And the mama hens, who go full broody protecting their eggs like it's their entire personality.

And all the human moms out there doing exactly the same thing in their own way.

To every mom following along — we see you. Happy Mother's Day. 🐝🐔💛

Nine days into May and we wanted to give you a little peek at what's ahead here at Fulton Creek Farms. 🐝🐔

🍯 Honey harvest is coming. The spring nectar flow has been strong and the frames are filling up. We're watching closely and will share the whole process when harvest day arrives...stay tuned.

🥚 The flock is laying well. Spring days mean more light, more energy, and more eggs. If you've been waiting on a dozen, now is a great time to reach out.

🕯️ We're restocking beeswax products. Candles, lip balm, and lotion bars are in the works. Message us to get on the list before they go.

🌿 The farm is growing, literally. We're expanding a bit this season and we'll share updates as things develop.

If you're new here: welcome. We're a small hobby farm in Advance, NC, sitting right where Fulton Creek meets the Yadkin River. We keep bees, raise chickens, and make everything from scratch.

We have a limited amount of 2026 honey available both at the farm and at the Law Office of Sarah Young. We’ll have more in the coming weeks, but wanted to let everyone know there is some available. This years honey are all in quarts at the moment and have the NC Certified Beekeeper sticker on top.

One of the most important skills in beekeeping is learning to read a hive — to know the difference between a colony that's thriving and one that needs help. 🐝

Here's what a healthy hive looks like at Fulton Creek Farms in May:

✅ Steady traffic at the entrance — bees coming and going all day, many carrying pollen on their back legs (you can actually see the little color-coded pollen balls if you look closely)

✅ A calm, steady hum — a healthy hive sounds like a gentle, confident buzz. A stressed or queenless hive sounds different. You learn to hear it.

✅ Capped brood in the frames — when you open the hive, you want to see capped cells where new bees are developing. It means the queen is laying and the population is growing.

✅ Honey and pollen stores — the bees are putting food away for later, which means foraging is going well.

✅ No unusual smells — a healthy hive smells like warm wax and honey. Off smells can signal disease.

Beekeeping is part science, part intuition, and a lot of just paying attention. We're still learning every single season. 🍯
