10 years later, it doesn’t get any easier… Every April we celebrate the arrival of Spring and warm weather and the budding of the vines.

And then we are not happy with Mother Nature when she takes a U-Turn and gives us multiple nights of frost and/or freezing temps. We feel like mother hens protecting our sweet little baby 🐣s. Seriously …aren’t these buds precious?

🤞🏼our excellent site, with great air flow that helps move the cold air down the hill below the vines does its trick tonight and into the morning hours. Hey, there’s a reason this place was once called AM Fog!

Still pinching ourselves…

We won the 2026 Virginia Governor’s Cup tonight for our 2023 Cabernet Franc Reserve.

Excuse the random order of the photos — it’s been a fun and quite astonishing evening. For the first time in 44 years, none of the top 12 wines — the Case wines — knew which would be the winner of the Governor’s Cup. So our team is still a bit stunned. But especially note the photo of the new generation of with our Vineyard & Farm Manager Walter Pugh & Winemaker Corey Craighill. These two are the core of an amazing team and our terrific estate wines.

Thank you to Governor Spanberger and Agriculture & Forestry Secretary Katie Frazier for their time this evening, support of our state’s wine industry, and the awesome photo ops!

Huge thanks to the Virginia Winery Association, Frank Morgan, and all of the judges for running such a world-class competition.

And, last, but not least, kudos of the night to the Virginia Wine Marketing Board for throwing one heckuva Gala, which was a standout sellout. This event has become the “must attend” event of the year.
