An exciting new exhibit in the Appalachian Foodways Series: Maple Syrup is now available. The Archives of Appalachia is proud to draw attention to these newly-collected materials from three East Tennessee producers of maple syrup from large to small scale: the Wiggin family of Maple Grove Farms, Tipton Haynes State Historic Site, and the Lee Bidgood family. Foodways delves into the "why" behind what we eat, exploring the historical and cultural significance of food as it relates to people and place. This exhibit draws upon recent films, oral histories, photographs, and other documents to highlight the long-standing Appalachian tradition of making maple syrup.

🚨Restock Alert! 🚨

We’ve restocked several of our locations today with gourmet favorite maple syrups and our HOMEMADE MAPLE APPLE BUTTER! 🍎

Our maple apple butter is made from freshly cut & pulped apples, and is stirred for hours in a copper kettle over and open fire! It’s a lot of work, but the results are so sweet! 🍁
