Affordable, quality 3x3x8 cool weather grass bales: This season, we introduce a $170 2nd cut timothy-orchardgrass 3x3x8 bale to the regular inventory. First cut will remain $140. We believe that in most cases, large bale formats offer better value per pound than small square bales, with the 3x3x8 (700-820 lbs) bridging the gap between the small round (4x4, 400-450 lbs, most expensive per pound and easiest to handle) and the best value large bale category (3x4x8, between 1000-1260 pounds, mid-sized equipment required to handle).

Teff 2025. Need tested low-sugar affordable grass hay? We’ve got east-of-the-Mississippi teff back in stock, after a period of choosing to substitute low-sugar timothy rather than source a 'patch' teff solution from the much more expensive Pacific Northwest. This year’s crop is particularly lovely to look at and smell. Price will start where we left with last year's crop, but near-term upward adjustments probable.

$200 3x4x8 alfalfa-grass BIG bales: Iowa has GREAT soil and when not growing corn, it can produce some alfalfa-grass mix that keeps horses working hard and looking good. We’re opening the season’s supply with a special $200 a bale price, from today (9/12) through next Tuesday (9/16). Good for the whole herd, at a price where you’ll have enough left over to eat well, too! Over 1000 lbs each, stocked year-round, available 6 days a week, for 3 years and counting.

Say ‘Hi’ to less expensive 3-tie: This Thursday, Sept 11, we’ll run a promotion on pick-up $35 2nd cut timothy or 2nd cut alfalfa 3-tie bales from Idaho. The decision to regularly stock this format derives from the expanding availability of the machine that puts them into 14-bale bundles. Lower touch, lower price. High quality western hay. Idaho gets tougher to regularly ship from thru the winter, and we’ve got New Mexico and Utah providers as alternate sources. Local delivery available for an additional fee.

2025-26 season preview: We offer quality hay, pellets, and feed at the lowest PERSISTENT pickup price in the area.
Persistent: Available 6 days a week, thru the season, to the limit of our grower’s ability to forecast demand and communicate inventory.
Need delivery? Try our dealer network! We’ve found some efficiencies in lane density and delivery methods that can, even at the ‘delivered-and-stacked’ service level, equate to savings versus your local supplier.
Hay side, we’ve expanded to include 3-tie Western-grown alfalfa, alfalfa-grass mix, and timothy. We offer coastal Bermuda. We are diligent about continuously stocking a tested low-sugar hay. Beyond hay, we offer beet pulp, alfalfa, alfalfa-oat pellets, whole golden flax, and a grain-free, soy-free equine feed with other interesting characteristics. We work with our loyal clients and an INDEPENDENT equine nutritionist to both keep horses healthy and address those with special needs.
As we build grower relationships, we have a growing ability to address, for feedstore customers, the challenge of consistent supply, month after month after month. For a feedstore wanting less-than-truckload quantities, of multiple hay types, we can help. We find interesting opportunities in bridging-blending the capabilities of the grower, the broker, and a traditional storefront.
A few persistently available price points: $32 3-tie Idaho alfalfa-orchardgrass bales, $17 2-tie Idaho alfalfa bundles, $12 1st cut Ohio timothy-orchardgrass bundles, $10 2-tie coastal Bermudagrass bundles (SC grown), $15 50 # beet pulp pellet bags, $17 50 # 3rd-cut-idaho-alfalfa pellet bags, $37 50 # whole golden flax bags. And 2nd cut eastern grown bundles of alfalfa-grass mix for $13-14 a bale.
Look for the beginning of Thursday specials, to balance out the Tuesday bulge. More to come, and thank you for the support!
