Welcome to the farm ❤
🐷🐔 A little farmer honesty...
Lately I've been reminding myself that I need to spend less time worrying about what other farms are doing and more time focusing on what's right for our farm.
The truth is, no two farms are the same.
Different climates. Different land. Different goals. Different livestock. Different resources.
What works for one farm may not work for another, and that's okay.
Here at 7 Anubis Farms, our pigs, chickens, and ducks are raised on pasture where they can root, forage, scratch, peck, and enjoy life outdoors. They also receive a balanced feed ration because that's what helps us provide the nutrition they need to stay healthy and thrive.
And that's another choice we've made intentionally.
Could we source specialty feeds from far away? Sure. But we choose to work with a local feed mill and support another small rural business. Keeping dollars in our local communities matters to us. Small farms, local feed mills, equipment dealers, and family-owned businesses all help support one another, and we believe those connections are worth preserving.
Are we still working to improve our pastures? Absolutely. We'd love to continue adding more diverse grasses, legumes, and clovers. Building healthier pastures takes time, especially here in Eastern Colorado, and we're committed to making those improvements year by year.
At the end of the day, we're not trying to farm exactly like anyone else. We're trying to make the best decisions we can for our animals, our land, our customers, and our community.
We're proud of the food we raise, proud of the people who help make it possible, and grateful for everyone who chooses to support local agriculture.
