I would like to emphasize that while farming is very joyful amd fulfilling, it's not alwaya piglets amd rainbows.
Soooo...yesterday on the way to market, a rack shifted in the trailer and some eggs ended up damaged. Yesterday was just...well, a day. Now I get to spend this morning cleaning up that mess.
I lost 2 more chickens yesterday/today and with the help of CSU extention we have determined there is Mareks running through our flock. Marek's disease is a highly contagious, viral neoplastic disease affecting poultry, primarily chickens. It is caused by an avian herpesvirus and is characterized by the formation of tumors and the enlargement of nerves, which often lead to irreversible paralysis in the legs or wings. There is no cure. The thing that really bothers me is that it came from some hatchery birds I bought last fall.
So also today, I get to clean amd sanitizer feed and water containers and coop. Then I need to set up a new water system that I have been working on. All while straining the duck wax and prepping to process birds this week.
I just have to keep faith in God and his plan amd carry on.

Can you tell the difference? 👀
One is ground beef… one is our Berkshire ground pork.
Truth is, there’s not much to tell — and that’s the point.
Out here, we keep things simple: if you can cook it with beef, you can cook it with pork. Same recipes. Same skillet. Just honest, flavorful meat raised right.
Burger night around here is 🔥
Would you have guessed? Stop by in Erie, CO, tonight from 5 pm- 8 pm and in Cherry Creek Saturday from 9 am- 2 pm to pick up some flavorful and juicy ground pork.

Piglets are doing good. We only habe 1 boy, so only 1 castration this round. We will be handilng that tomorrow.
Since there is no rest for the wicked, we have a full schedule today.
Fed and watered all of the animals. Move a new roosting set up into the coop for a little more room. Cleaning brooders and adding fresh wood chips. Nesting boxes need a fresh round of chips. I need to fill the Oyster shell buckets. Then I need to prep for processing drakes tomorrow and chickens on Tuesday. I'm hoping to be able to get to the freezers and get them rearranged today. They are a complete disorganized mess right now and it bugs the heck out of me.
Im sure are 5 million other things that need to get done around here, but this is what is taking priority today. I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend.

If you have to tear someone else down to make yourself look better, what you’re really showing is a lack of confidence in what you offer.
Strong businesses—and strong people—don’t need to do that. They focus on their own value, their own work, and let it speak for itself.
There’s a big difference between saying “here’s why we’re good” and “here’s why they’re bad.”
One builds trust. The other raises questions.
Confidence sells. Criticism just exposes insecurity.
What do you all think—does that kind of marketing turn you off too?
