Check out the raised bed garden we have outside of Legacy Park in Alachua! Our Sprout Squad kids gardening club built this bed and planted it a few times. We refreshed it a few weeks ago and the basil and zinnias look great! BIG thanks to City of Alachua Recreation and Culture and Crafty Gemini Youth Development, Inc. for collaborating with us on this little garden! 🙌🏽💕🙏🏽🌱🌻

I love growing basil varieties! 🌿 Here are two that are popular to grow for cut flower arrangements and bouquets! 💐 Cinnamon basil has the purple flowers and Thai Lemon basil has the pretty white flowers. Pollinators LOVE them and so do I! I use them in tea and when cooking! Do you grow basil? If so, what variety?

🤦🏽‍♀️ I should have harvested the elephant garlic last week. We had about 5 days of no rain and I thought about harvesting them but decided to leave them in the ground “so they could get as big as they could.” 🫠😅 It’s been raining for the past 3 days and I kept waiting for the ground to dry out and it hadn’t happened so, I decided to just go for it today.

In between a few rainstorms I called for everyone to come help me harvest the elephant garlic before it started pouring again. I almost lost them all. 😅 Lesson learned.

I put them in the sun for a bit and then moved them to the covered porch with fans on. They are already crisping up so I think they’ll be okay but, phew! I would’ve cried! I’ve been waiting 7 months for my elephant garlic. 🤪🧄🙏🏽

Gainesville/Alachua friends: I have a bunch of Genovese Basil plugs available. I’m bringing them to the Farmers Market on Main Street-Alachua (on Main Street next to Bev’s Burgers in Downtown Alachua, FL) this Saturday (June 13th) from 9:00am-1:00pm.

Who wants some? Just $1 per plug. 🌿

Perfect time to put them in a pot or in ground to grow all summer! Mine are doing great!

We love it for tea, pesto, pizza, pasta sauces, etc!
