I normally choose to stay away from social media drama, but because my name, my business, and my character have been publicly questioned, I feel it's important to speak for myself.
Many of you know that Marisela was not just someone I knew. She was my friend for 19 years. When I received the heartbreaking news of her passing, I immediately wanted to help in any way I could. Not for recognition, not for praise, and certainly not for attention, but because that's what friends do.
Before the plate sale fundraiser even took place, my husband, friends, supporters, and I had already contributed approximately $500 to help her family. In addition to that, I organized a plate sale fundraiser that raised $300, along with an additional $51 in donations. Every dollar was given with love, compassion, and the sincere intention of helping a family during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
For those who may not know, my food business is my only source of income. During the summer months, business is always slower because many of my regular customers work in schools and clinics and are off for the season. I cannot force people to buy plates, donate money, or share my posts. All I can do is work hard, post my fundraiser, and appreciate every single person who chooses to support.
I have also seen comments and posts questioning my honesty and suggesting concerns that this fundraiser was not legitimate. Let me be very clear: I have proof and records of every donation, every payment received, and every contribution made. Anyone who truly knows me, my business, and my heart knows I would never take advantage of a grieving family or misuse funds intended to help them.
I also want to make it clear that I did not contact Ryan Wolf or any news outlet regarding this situation. From what was publicly stated, information was reportedly sent because someone believed it might be a scam. While I understand people wanting to protect others, those accusations are hurtful when they are directed at someone who has done nothing but try to help.
What saddens me most is that a family's loss has become overshadowed by rumors, negativity, and comparisons about who raised more money or who did more. Helping a grieving family should never be a competition. Every donation matters. Every plate sold matters. Every prayer matters. Every person who stepped up to help deserves appreciation.
Throughout all of this, I have remained respectful. I have continued checking on the family, and every conversation I have had with Marisela's mother has been out of genuine concern and support. My focus has always been on helping, not on keeping score.
To my loyal customers, friends, family, and supporters: thank you. Thank you for trusting me, supporting my small business, purchasing plates, donating, sharing posts, and standing by me. Your kindness and faith in my character mean more than words can express.
I am proud of the help I was able to provide, and I would do it again without hesitation for someone I loved and cared about.
I will continue to pray for Marisela's family, honor her memory, and move forward with peace, honesty, and integrity.
Thank you.
