To pull off an animal operation, many don't realize you see some injuries, some death, and sadness. Occasionally, we have to pull kids and piglets for recovery therapy.... this piglet was one of three pulled (two siblings passed), and he was stepped on by mom. His face became p***y and infected so we decided to treat him indoors where he will probably remain until it warms up.
This goat kid was born two days ago. Mom, Lupine, went into labor at 11 pm. We weren't sure if she was struggling or not so didn't bring her into the vet until the next evening with little hope that her kids survived, but as long as we could save her. Performing a c-section, the vet suggested never breeding her again due to her bad birthing frame. We did retrieve one goat, alive! His sister was, most likely, stuck in the birth canal so ended up dying. But he survived! He's had a tough go. Not always excited about suckling and working towards surviving. But these two are allowed free rein in our house. Mostly because they don't stray too far from their dog bed.
Caught them in the cutest cuddle session though.
