Today we made some cookies to donate to an event that’s near and dear to my heart. The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa’s Fisheries Department has their annual Nme (Nah-may) Celebration tomorrow in Wolverine. Their hatchery raises Nme (Lake Sturgeon) over the summer, then releases them into the Sturgeon River about this time. The celebration consists of a donated picnic lunch, song and prayer lead by Tribal Members, and then attendees get to release a baby Nme into the river!
My family is passionate about fish, and Sturgeon in particular, so I was happy to donate! We whipped up some classic chocolate chip, diary-free snickerdoodles, and even a few oatmeal cranberry!
So excited to share our cookies and kiss some baby sturgeon tomorrow!
