June is Dairy Month
Day3
Dairy was a family affair!
🐄Recently I took home a bunch of things from my childhood bedroom. I found some pictures.
🐄My dad rented a heifer barn in Morgan VT, one winter(maybe more?) I remember going to do chores there with him and my brothers.
🐄I think his truck was fairly new, which is why we took pictures of it. It might be the only FORD he ever owned. From then on it was DODGE!

🐄Summers growing up were filled with 4-H and showing cows. This is my first Registered Holstein. Her name was Col-Ray Bear Apple. She was sired by Bearpath Fantastic. My parents purchased her from Collette and Raymond Routhier. Most of my dad's cows were grades, meaning they didn't have papers and weren't Registered through the Holstein Association. While that didn't make them any lesser in quality or their milk producing ability, it would eventually limit the shows I could attend as I got older.
🐄My mom was my biggest supporter. She encouraged me to show cows, and held great expectations of responsibility, commitment and follow through.
🐄Days were for getting chores done, washing calves, and practicing on the back lawn. When we were finished we would pack the car and head to Lake Seymour. We never missed the opportunity to get a good tan 😆

June is Dairy Month and Today is World Milk Day!

In honor of this Month, which recognizes the value of REAL Dairy i'll post some of my favorite pictures from years past to present.

My love for cows started at a very early age. Here I am(guessing 7 years old) with my first show calf "Polly" She was sired by Pen Col Dazzler.

Here I am clipping with a hot pair of Oster Clippers, the ones that sound like an airplane!! This was before clipping chutes were practical, so we tied her to the tree on the front lawn.

Im guessing im wearing a shirt and pair of jeans from my sisters closet! I was good at ruining her clothes 🤣
