Hello, Smileys!

It is with very mixed feelings that I have to tell you that I am closing up shop. We have decided to take a job (for my husband) in Boulder, Colorado. Although we're looking forward to being very near family for the first time in 13 years, we will miss our New England communities. Although our move will happen this summer, I need to focus my energies fully on our home and family right now.

So..., I'm selling off all of my inventory until it's gone. FOR SALE WHILE IT LASTS!

Reminder: The seitan will keep in the freezer for a year, so if you'd like to stock up, feel free!

As you're planning your Thanksgiving menu (for NEXT THURSDAY, can you believe it!), keep in mind our super-easy "Sei-turkey" assembly instructions (linked to the photo album here.

You might want to pick some up early at Honest Weight Food Co-op, fin - your fishmonger, The Cheese Traveler, and Healthy Living Market and Cafe Saratoga. Don't wait until the last minute!

We sure are thankful for your business... (and so are the turkeys)!

Instead of being stuck with "the sides" on Thanksgiving, cook up one of these beauties! I've been making these since 1997 and it's gone over so well that people have just stopped bringing turkey to our holiday gatherings. These directions are for a HUGE one that usually feeds 20+ at a potluck event. This one is about 10"x14", not including the edge of the platter..Enjoy!

The word is out and it's official! BAKE FOR YOU will soon occupy 540 Delaware, serving coffee and all kinds of yummy BFY goodness!

We will continue to rent space there (from BFY) and are SO excited to work with the BFY people!

Hi Smileys! Did you find it yet? Honest Weight Food Co-op now stocks our Not-My-Brother's Bacon! Although it's safe out of the package, We like to pan-fry it BRIEFLY in a little olive oil. Mmmmm....!

What are we smiling about??? The latest restaurant to use our products (namely, Seitan Chorizo!) in their food... La Empanada Llama
They've used it in their food at the Delmar Farmers Market, but now they're using it in their new restaurant, which is fantastic! Check it out:

"Bacon" lovers, HERE IT IS... Debuting at it's first retail vendor:

NOT-MY-BROTHER'S-BACON! (Named for my brother, James, who is decidedly NOT vegan, but is still awesome.)

Right now, The Cheese Traveler (right next to All Good Bakers on Delaware Ave) is the only retail location carrying our bacon. To find it, walk straight back in the store to our little smiley faces in the freezer cabinet on the right.

To prepare: Lightly pan-fry in a little olive oil, BRIEFLY (maybe 1 minute/side). Let cool a little. Like real bacon, it will "crisp" a little after cooking. If you cook it, and then want it a little crisper, you can return it to the pan. (If you prefer it room-temp, it is, of course, safe to eat right out of the package, though.)

If you find yourself near Duanesburg, check out Mildred's Meadows! Not only does Jessica carry our Seitan Italian Sausage in her freezer, she also has some beautiful fresh produce and local favorites... and her plant nursery is just beautiful! Can't believe it's taken me this long to see the shop and I can't wait to make a trip back... short drive from Albany!
