Upon settling in Albany, they opened their first market, Andy’s and Son’s Importing Company on Madison Avenue in the heart of the city’s “Little Italy” section. Their mission was simply to provide top quality Italian foods, cheeses, deli products, fresh produce, and seafood. In 1964 with the construction of South Mall, later know as the Empire State Plaza, and as both their family and business inc
reased they made the decision to relocate their store to Delaware Avenue, where it still stands today. In 1975 after Antimo’s passing, Vincent the eldest son joined Filomena in the family business followed by another son Carmen, a few years later. Upon Filomena’s retirement the name was changed to Andy’s Italian Food and Deli, LTD. Throughout the years the business continued to grow and expand their line of products. They now offer, full service catering; prepared foods; gourmet subs and sandwiches; take out dinners; homemade raviolis and sauces. In addition to that, homemade soups, deserts, and an extensive line of imported and domestic cheeses and olives. They also feature fresh homemade sausages and meatballs, dried soppressata, and a broad range of cured meats and cold cuts. Andy‘s, as the business has been affectionately known by the residents of the Capital District area and beyond, has truly become an Albany landmark. They continue to capture the gastronomic delights of their clientele and win awards, such as; Times Union “Best Italian Market” several times, Metroland Magazines’ “Best Sub,” Best Sandwich” and “Best Deli” time and time again. After fifty plus years of business, Andy’s Italian Food and Deli, LTD still continues today under the management of Vincent and Carmen. They remain dedicated and mindful to the memory of their parent’s, Antimo and Filomena, and their original mission, to serve their customers the best top quality Italian foods, cheeses, deli products and fresh produce. Vincent and Carmen‘s commitment to their customers continues to be unwavering as they look towards the future in providing their patrons with their own top quality homemade products and delicacies from Italy and all over the world.
