Ropp Family Farm

Ropp Family Farm Ropp Family Farm is a small family farm located just outside of albany in the beautiful Willamette Valley, Oregon. And it was love at first sight.

It is owned and operated by Jess & Greta Ropp. Jess Grew up on the family grass seed farm that his family has been living on for 6 generations, just across the field from where we are located today. Alot of time was spent working on this farm when he was growing up. At the age of around 5 his grandfather purchased him his very own all white shorthorn cow. In the 4th grade he started raising and sh

owing cattle with a local 4-H club. This is where his passion and love of cattle comes from. Greta was raised in Corvallis most of her life. She always enjoyed riding horses and working in the garden. Although she was not raised around cattle she has come to love and respect the shorthorn breed. Most of all we are glad that we have been blessed with the opportunity to raise our children on the farm with a country lifestyle. We currently have a small herd of 10 Producing Shorthorn Cows. The Goal that we are working toward is to produce Premium Quality Natural Beef for the local market. I feel by breeding & raising my own Shorthorn cattle, keeping a smaller herd, raising my own feed, and spending time with the cattle, we can produce docile happy animals that will in turn produce less stressed High quality natural beef.

23 years ago today, I asked the most beautiful woman in the world to spend the rest of her life with me… and she said yes. ❤️

Fast forward 23 years and here we are… sitting in the barn, drinking coffee, and talking while milking our Jersey cow Chloe .

Somewhere in between we had 8 kids, moved more than 15 times, chased a lot of dreams, learned some hard lessons, laughed a lot, cried a lot, and walked through plenty of ups and downs.

And through all of it, God has been faithful. He has been the center of our marriage, the foundation we stand on, and the only reason we’re still standing together today…. And because of this, we’re more in love now than we’ve ever been.

Maybe this is what becoming an old married couple looks like… celebrating an engagement anniversary in our grubbies in the barn, with coffee and a cow 😂

But honestly, it’s a life we built together, with God leading the way, a life we truly enjoy, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I love you, Greta. Happy 23 years since you said yes. ❤️

I love Judah’s ability to hear songs and sit down and play them on the piano. Here is his cover of Another Love by Tom Odell.

Thanks to chef Matt () for the dinner inspiration tonight! Sybaris at Home…

Oven Roasted Creamy Tomato Soup:
Oven grilled heirloom tomatoes from the garden, fresh cream from the jerseys, basil & garlic from the garden, loaf of Greta’s sourdough bread fresh from the oven…. Kids thought it was too fancy until they tased it… We made a second pot! 😂

Local family farms are upset over proposed farmstand rules they say would benefit large corporate farms and make it harder for small farms to operate.

Once a month, Greta rolls up her sleeves and makes a big batch of homemade butter—and it’s always worth it. 🐄🧈

She just wrapped up this month’s batch and we thought it was the perfect time to show you how easy it is to make your own at home!
