Got some more seeds planted today and more on the way. Started 12 of the California wonders, a beautiful green bell pepper, 12 Celebrity tomatoes and 12 more fireworks tomato's. Also planted 6medium hot chilli pepper seeds and 6 of the Hales best cantaloupe seed that I saved last years harvest. I just want to see it they sprout.
More seeds will be planted today. Also ordering more from a request.

Well I've been enjoying this pure oxygen from these tomato plants and just wanted to share with y'all some of my plans for this coming up growing season.
This is me in november😂. After all the garden crops have been disked into the ground and the cover crops have been planted.
Just sitting, pondering and planning next year's garden, until January then I'm back at it again!
Well I got my 2nd seed starting shelf setup. 5 shelf stand, 4 heat mats, 2 more additional grow lights, and a 12 socket power strip with USB connections for charging the phone, because every socket is full. I reckon I'm done adding anything else cause I don't believe they make a 16 outlet.
I did ordered more seeds this evening, some new stuff! New stringless green beans, tomato's and cantaloupes! Tomorrow evening I will love planting more mator seeds.
In 2-3 months we will be offering tomato seedlings for sale. Of course they will be bigger than this. Transplanted into either 4 or 6 inch pots determined by their size. And I will also be starting another variety tomorrow.
I plan on starting cantaloupes, watermelons, crooked neck squash, zucchini squash and cucumbers if anyone is interested.
These will be a limited supply as the living room is only so big. This is a try and see effort to see if there is enough demand before going to the next step. Any input on seedlings y'all would like this year or next would be greatly appreciated. I will get the exact seed that I'm going to plant thursday.

The chicks are growing so much. Only at 18 days old they are getting feathered pretty good. (You will have to click on the 1st pic to see it).
Well I can't stand it anymore! So today I mixed up a low dose of roundup and sprayed the cover crops we have in the garden. Yes it's a little early but it will have time to kill and dry down before we start discing and turning it into the ground. So that way when we go to plant it all won't be green and clumped up. That aggravates the mess out me when the vegetation piles/clumps up. Where it won't spread out evenly cause it's still green and tough. Since that part is done I can concentrate on up potting seedlings in a few weeks and start more seeds. Cause a Amazon truck just threw up on my back step!😂 Which is fine cause it has another shelve for more plants, more heat mats and 2 more grow lights!

The other tomato's have started sprouting. I just put the grow light on these, so they will grow more upright and not toward the window. These are all tomato's and these are the plants I will sell this spring here at the farm. Parks Whopper, Better Boy, Beef Master and Early Girls.

Done a update on the farmstand today, I added two additional shelves so we can put our smaller vegetables on the shelves and our larger vegetables on the original top. Looks good to me, but it would look better with some good ol tomato's on it though!

There will be a limited supply for this year, but may do a 2-3 more sets of 12 if interest peaks within 30 days. The fact that these will be scattered in the living room during the next 9-12 weeks is the reason they will be limited supply this spring.

Pressure canned chicken from probably 2019 (it was before I start writing dates on the lids), canned taters from 2020, cann beans from 2021. Supper never gets old here!!! Cause I pressure can all of it!
I never sell my pressure canned vegetables, I get those for all my hard work during the summer of supplying y'all with the freshest vegetables.
Which reminds me, it's almost dandelion jelly time! Just another 30-60 days! 😁
Been busy this weekend trying to finish up the chicken coop I started on last summer. Got the roof trusses on it yesterday and got the wire finished today. I need the roof panels and a latch from Lowes tomorrow, feeding trough and water bowl from somewhere and it will be ready for birds!
Then I need to prepare for another addition coop... Maybe... Possibly... But I hope not.

My feed mill called me this morning and they told me feed is going up quite a bit today. So in return I'm gonna have to go up on the farm fresh eggs. I hate going up in this strained economy, but I didn't go up the last time the feed price went up and now I'm forced to do it to be able to buy more feed next time.

This year we will offering Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes. We had them last year, but I couldn't get any containers to put them in. However I ordered some this morning, so we got containers for them. If we have a good garden this summer.
I will also be adding a couple shelves to the addition we added last year so we will have more space in the same place.
Thank you all for supporting us last year and buying local! We hope the 2023 season will be just as great and better.
With this warm day today I couldn't stand it anymore... So I planted a tray of firework tomato seeds, plugged in the heat mat and put on the dome. They should be up in 3 days, then I will turn the grow light on them and let them continue to grow inside until it's spring. I know I will have to up pot them a couple more times.
New year chicks! So far I've seen 5, however the black hen is still sitting. Oreo got out because these 3 couldn't get back in the box. But there are still 2 in the laying box. Team work makes the dream work.
I got some eggs at the stand this morning. Speaking of eggs, it doesn't get any fresher than this. I gave it a few mins for the bloom to dry, then into the egg carton and down at the stand.
The bloom is the eggs natural protective layer added by the hens just as there being laid, that's why it's shiny. Thats why we don't wash our eggs, washing takes off this protection.
Since we are a small business, I wanted to share this other small business that is located in oakboro. I myself haven't never been there, however we need to support local small businesses as they are the life and blood our their local economies. But we will be going by there this weekend!
2 doz eggs are at farmstand, 3.00 a doz. Get them while they last.
15 weeks until I plant the first sweet corn! Can't wait. I'm going to plant a few tomato seeds next week just to get it out of my system, then wait a week and start some more. Ready for spring!

In all my years, Ive never heard a chicken growl
2 more days until hatch day.. I'm hoping with both of them on the eggs the extreme cold didn't get to the eggs, We will see in a few days.
Good evening everyone sorry we haven't had any eggs at the farmstand, but we didn't want to loose any because of the extreme cold. However we will have 4) 1 dozen cartons and 2) 18 packs of eggs down there in the morning around 9.

Time lapse of the cold front passing through this morning. At 8:04 am the cold front crossed the farm. The wind shifted from west southwest to a west northwest and the temp started dropping like a rock. Also if anyone is wanting eggs message the farm page, We do have 2 dozen. However we will keep them in the house so that they don't freeze and bust until the extreme cold passes.

The sitting hen has brought in reinforcement to help keep the eggs warm.
The simple thing is the other yard hens have continued to lay in this box after she started sitting and they have got A LOT of eggs in that box. So I reckon she called in this hen to help her cover the eggs, however the simple truth is after the eggs first eggs (2 days worth on average) hatch the hen will come up off the nest and start to raise those chicks. I will have the incubators already started waiting for the hen to get off the nest so any other eggs will be brought into the house and put into the incubator. Hopefully we will have some new year chicks. Dec 29th is hatch day
