October 26 — Traditional corn harvest — complete ✅
With Bridget (16) in one grain cart and Cael (13) running the combine (with dad riding in the buddy seat) it took a bit longer and more patience, but watching the seventh generation take the wheel makes all the long days worth it. Jonathan, our other grain cart driver is always such a great teacher to help Bridget relearn the ropes. Now we wait for the organic corn! 🌽

Yesterday was supposed to be our last day of conventional corn harvest… until late morning when the steel cables came out of the combine track. That put us down for the day, but our crew didn’t miss a beat. Travis jumped in the truck and drove 10 hours round-trip to pick up new tracks. By 8 AM this morning, the combine was back together and rolling again. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it — this crew is nothing short of amazing. Hard work, late nights, and teamwork — that’s what keeps this farm going. 👊 🚜🌽

Harvest is in full swing! Combine has been rolling for two weeks, manure’s going on, tillage is underway, and tile crews are in the field. Busy season, but we’re thankful for the weather and the progress! 🌽🚜💨

Today!! A few more fun facts:

Did you know race cars all use some percentage of bio fuels? 🏎️💨

👉 IndyCar: runs on 100% renewable ethanol – the same type of fuel blend you can find at the pump!
👉 NASCAR: uses E15 (15% ethanol, 85% gasoline) – just like what’s approved for everyday vehicles 2001 and newer.
👉 Formula 1: currently uses E10, moving toward 100% sustainable fuels in the future.

Pretty cool that what powers the world’s fastest cars is also available for our own vehicles. 🚗🌽💚

Did you know? 88 Octane is approved by the EPA for use in cars, SUVs, and light-duty trucks model year 2001 and newer. It burns cleaner and often costs 5–10 cents (or more!) per gallon less than regular 87 octane and provides similar horsepower and driving experience. Why use it? The higher ethanol content helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lowers reliance on petroleum and supports U.S. corn and biofuel industries since most ethanol is made from field corn.
