Husbands. A PSA!

This husband’s name is Ryan.

Ryan’s wife simply TAGGED him in the comments of a goat that she really liked. Ryan then tracked down the breeder, emailed for info, read the website and policies and made pick up arrangements IN SECRET. Ryan took off work and made the trip to Ocala in such a manner that he would be home at the regular time to avoid suspicion. Ryan surprised his happy wife with a gift wrapped goat yesterday!

Husbands…BE LIKE RYAN!

Happy wife, happy life!

We hope you all love Luna Lovegood as much as we have! She’s a little mouthy but oh so wonderful 💕

HOW MUCH FOR A GOAT?

Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who sends a text to just ask for the price. The person who calls and hears the price and says “I can buy a cheaper goat somewhere else”. I'll talk to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want “just a pet and milk goat to raise”.

No registered goat is “just a pet and milk goat”.

Behind every purebred goat is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to distinguish a breeder from a backyard operation where no thought goes into the animals being bred except making more of them, regardless of body stature or health.

If you choose to buy a goat from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for every goat produced on their farm.

This breeder sometimes skips vacations and events, misses sleep, and most of their personal time is dedicated to their goats and their well being. The truly passionate breeder puts everything they can into it. Not only for goats that are sold, but also for every customer who owns a piece of their heart and is now a member of their large family!

A breeder will get his hands dirty, often covered in everything that comes with goat ownership including but not limited to birth. Because that's what life is all about... in the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps spinning. A breeder conducts ultrasounds, analytics, emergency vet calls, vaccinations, registrations, researches pedigrees, deworming, hoof trims and provides the base start for the future of the goat in handling, milking and showing.

Last but not least, the BREEDER CHOOSES the family who is lucky enough to have one of their goats. Yes, you read correctly!

* A real breeder chooses who they sell to. *
There really is no compensation that can offset the investment a breeder has made. A good breeder has other criteria for those who want to continue their bloodline, why? Because breeding isn't a responsibility to take lightly, it's a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the few devoted people willing to sacrifice. Our goats needs to be cared for, managed properly, and bred with the highest regard and intention.

Since a goat is never “just a pet” he/she is the legacy of the breeder - as well as little one's best friend, a caretaker of someone in need, therapy for the elderly, and/or someone's whole world!

Responsible breeding and possession of many goats is a lifestyle and commitment many can not understand or handle. 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our lives revolve around the goats! Please understand, we are putting everything we can into our prized possessions! These are not just "goats" to us

Well …. I’ve been somewhat keeping a secret from you guys. We bought an Oberhasli (a farm first 😂) from Treasure Meadows Oberhasli Dairy Goats!!

Treasure Meadows Sweet Revenge (who we’ve been calling Clementine 🍊) placed first in her class (Junior Kids) and won Reserve Champ Dry Oberhasli!!
Our very own Country Lake BC Ember placed first in her class (Senior Kids) and won Reserve Champion Dry Nigerian Dwarf!!

Milking Does:
Country Lake D Rosie Posie placed first in her class (Milking Yearlings) over her sister. She was considered in the Champion Lineup. Although she didn’t win Grand or Reserve Champ, the judge had some very nice comments.
Country Lake F Honey did place second (Milking Yearling) after her sister of course 🙄😂

Dry Does:
Country Lake BP Persimmon placed first in her class (Junior Kids) and was considered in the Champion / Reserve Champ Lineup.
Country Lake BH Minnie placed second in her class (Intermediate Kids) although it seemed the judge wanted to place her higher. She was a little naughty in the ring 😂
Country Lake BJ Lemon Drop placed second (Junior Kids) and was also invited back for the Champ / Reserve Champ Lineup!
Country Lake BL Junior placed third (Junior Kids).
Country Lake BO Thumbelina placed fourth in her class (Junior Kids)!

As a ten year member of Noble County 4H, there are so many people that have helped me so I owe a big, BIG thank you to Susan Mullins Moore, Dylan Baxter, Lucy Moore, and Kevin Andrew Moore for all your help the last ten years. You are the reason I am where I am today.

I am definately late in posting this but life has been very full lately! Our first doe kidded on February 7th. Our last doe kidded on May 13th. We had a total of six moms this year.

We had two sets of quadruplets, two sets of triplets, and two sets of twins! This was our first year with quadruplets and second with triplets! We can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
