Silver Maple Farms Inc. Family Dairy Farm. Welcome to Silver Maple Farms Inc! We are the McKeen family! This farm is family run by Dennis McKeen and his sons Kyle and Tyler.

We have been farming in Albion since 1973. We have 500 dairy cows. We milk about 250 of them. We have registered Jersey's. We raise all our own crops. We are thankful for everything the Lord has blessed us with!

Today marks 2 years since we started milking in the robot barn. It has been a life changing 2 years to say the least and things are still changing and improving!!!
We were blessed that Gram was there to see it all. Although she was hesitant at first, eventually she realized how beneficial it all was for the cows and the farm. We miss her dearly around here. She's brought up in a lot of conversations when big farm decisions are made...mostly that she would definitely say "No way!" to whatever it is ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†
Here's to many more years of hard work and success for generations to come!

My Grammie โค๏ธ

She passed into glory today and is face to face with Jesus now.

She is a big reason why I am who I am today.

If you knew her, Iโ€™m glad you had the privilege.

If you didnโ€™t know her, I wish you had the opportunity.

If you trust in Christ as your Lord and Savior like she did, Iโ€™ll introduce you to her in Heaven someday.

Love ya Grammie. See you soon.

Oh Gram. What did you go and do now? I keep waiting to see you walk up the feed alley in the morning or through the office door with your cane an orange vest on. Just so you could ask me what my news is today.. or if I was up this morning. Then you would ask what's going on or what I was doing today or where Father was. I will keep getting the sawdust slips and all the receipts and putting them in the drawer for when you come to get them. I will keep looking for equipment to tell you about just so you could tell me that "we can't do that right now". I've checked all the corn and the grass is growing, chores are all done and the cows are milking good. I wish I could tell you that you don't have to worry because we will have enough feed. But most of all I wish I could tell you that I love you Gram. We will be fine. Now it's time to go home and see Jesus because Grampa is waiting for you. I miss you

Gram is with her Lord. She was strong, faithful, devoted, loving, smart and oh so stubborn ๐Ÿ™‚
She loved the Lord and was well known for her faith.
She was respected by so many in the farming community.
She was cherished by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Here on the farm she was often seen walking here there and everywhere making sure everything was running smooth and checking to see if the boys were being productive ๐Ÿ˜‰ Writing notes on the white board of things she thought needed to be done and underlining and circling them to be sure they weren't forgotten ๐Ÿ˜† She was still doing the books at 84 years old right up until the end. If that's not dedication..
She often made us chuckle and shake our heads with her words....if you know you know ๐Ÿ˜…
We could go on and on. We will miss her dearly and she has left a big hole in the entire McKeen family but especially the farm family. Not seeing her every day is going to be a big change around here.
We are thankful that she shared her love for Christ with us and that we will see her again someday ๐Ÿค
We love you Gram!

Now that we've had a chance to contact as many family and friends as we could, we wanted to post an update on Gram here.

Not an easy thing to share... we found Gram last weekend unresponsive at her home. It was determined that she had suffered a sudden brain bleed and there is nothing that can be done but keep her comfortable until she passes.

We decided to keep her here in the hospital where she remains as comfortable as possible. All six kids, our spouses, and a couple grandchildren were present in the ER with her last weekend. All grandkids were able to see her or call and say goodbye. It was difficult but a blessed time together as a family.

We're so thankful the hospital has been so gracious with our numerous family members who have been streaming in and out to love on our mom, grammie, and great-grammie.

We will post again after she has passed into Glory. There will be a service/reception in the near future and we'll of course share those details when we're able. We hope many will be able to attend.
