🐔 One more 2026 farm goal checked off the list! ✅🌱

We just finished processing our very first batch of meat birds! We started small with 20 Cornish Cross chickens, and after one loss along the way, we ended up with 19 birds processed and headed into the freezer. 🐔❄️

So… why raise our own chickens?

Does it cost less? Absolutely not. 😂

But for us, that’s not really the point. Raising our own meat gives us much more control over how they’re raised and the environment they’re raised in. Our birds were moved onto fresh grass every day, with plenty of fresh air and sunshine as they grew.

This was one of those projects that we’ve wanted to try for a while, and we’re pretty excited to officially say we did it! There’s definitely a learning curve, but starting with a small batch gave us a chance to figure out what works before deciding where we go from here.

For now, the freezers are stocked, the first batch is officially done, and we’re already thinking about what we learned and what we might do differently next time. 🐝🌱🐔

🐝🍞 PepperBee is hitting the road! 🍯🕯️

We’re excited to share that you can now find some PepperBee Farms goodies at Trina’s Treats’ new farm stand! 🎉

We’re starting with a small test order today featuring two of our sourdough favorites:

🍞 Rosemary Cheddar Sourdough

We’ve also got PepperBee honey 🍯 and candles 🕯️ making their way to the stand!

This is just a small first batch—we’ll be watching demand and increasing what we send as we see what everyone is looking for. 👀

🎃 We may have made a slight detour at Tractor Supply today…

Because apparently you can’t walk past the Halloween section without suddenly deciding your farm needs more decorations. 😂🐝

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately… 🐝

This summer, we made the decision to slow things down a bit and soak up some extra time with our kids. ❤️ Between family adventures, keeping up with the farm, and working behind the scenes on some much-needed farm infrastructure, PepperBee has been a little quieter than usual.

But don’t worry—we haven’t gone anywhere! 🐝🌻

We’ve been working on some things that will make PepperBee bigger, better, and a whole lot more fun. And we’ve got some additional surprises coming soon that we can’t wait to share with you. 👀

🐥🌾 CHICKS HAVE ARRIVED AT PEPPERBEE FARMS 🌾🐥

Well… we finally did it.

One of Farmer Sam’s longtime farm dreams is officially happening:
🐔 We are raising our own meat chickens.

For those unfamiliar, “meat birds” are chickens specifically bred to grow efficiently and provide a sustainable source of food for families and farms. Raising them ourselves means knowing exactly how they’re cared for every step of the way — fresh air, clean space, and lots of attention from tiny farm assistants.

It’s a whole new learning adventure for us, and honestly a pretty big step toward becoming more self-sufficient as a farm and family.

BUT… that’s not all that came home with us 😅

We also added six Olive Eggers to the flock! 🫒🥚

And yes… they really do lay green eggs.

We’re pretty excited to add a little more color to the egg basket around here. Between the ducks, the chickens, the bees, and Farmer Sam’s inability to say no to animals… things are getting interesting fast. 😂🐝

🦆🐝 Meet Suits 🐝🦆

Because apparently bringing home one random farm animal wasn’t enough…

At the same time we picked up Reaper, Farmer Sam also somehow ended up coming home with this guy — meet Suits. 😅

We’re not totally sure what breed he is, possibly some kind of mixed breed duck, but what we do know is:
✔️ He’s got personality
✔️ He’s ridiculously entertaining
✔️ The kids already absolutely love him

He’s still figuring out his place around the farm, but honestly he’s fitting into the chaos pretty naturally already.

At this point we’ve realized Farmer Sam has a very specific toxic trait:

“Do you want this extra animal too?”

…and him immediately responding:
“Yeah probably.” 🤦🏻‍♂️

He says he’s working on it.
We have our doubts.

Seriously though… when do we stop being PepperBee Farms and start becoming:
