grief circle + land tending for those reckoning with mother’s day

sunday, may 10 || 10am-1pm
~ a collaboration with ashokra farm & mai c. doan ~

mother’s day can be a difficult time for those of us with challenging and complicated relationships with our mothers / mother figure(s). as a way to process and connect through our experiences, and find care and community with one another, we are hosting a day of grief and land tending at ashokra farm.
join us for a grief circle, land tending, and closing ritual with the intention of loving, supporting, and holding ourselves through this complicated day.
🌻🌻🌻
this space is for people who have / had difficult, painful, challenging, and / or traumatic experiences with their mothers / mother figure(s), and for whom mother’s day brings up hard and complex feelings.

about mai: mai is a writer, facilitator, and community grief care practitioner. mai works with grief, writing, and storytelling as doorways and guides to loving and life affirming ways of being — with ourselves, each other, and the earth.

* this space will be limited to 15 people *

tunnel building chronicles 🔨🔨🔩🔩
thanks to our amazing build crew, we got our second tunnel up at one of our fields! she’s a stunner! it was a super fun weekend with the best people. thank you to kalisha, dallas, sradha, louisa and callan for being down to spend the weekend with us pounding rebar, driving screws into metal, measuring and remeasuring, tying knots and just being great!
also thank you to the spring wind for cooperating.
this is becoming an annual event!

🌖 crop planning as a nights and weekend farmer🌓
a zine for non-full time farmers, like us!!

I (anita) made this zine as a way to accept and celebrate our farm situation - that we all have other off job farms and that’s ok!! we are still farmers and we got some pretty great tricks. I also wanted to share what we’ve learned along the way in case it can help / encourage other night and weekend farmers.

check out this zine full of crop planning wisdom, jokes, horoscopes and reality checks from the past 5 years as a moonlighting farmer. I hope you enjoy it!

if you want a printed copy, find us around or send a msg and we’ll get you one!

Coming up on Sunday December 7, we are welcoming volunteers to the farm to help with our garlic planting and winter prep of our main field.

We’ll be planting garlic and mulching with straw, clearing beds of spent winter crops and drip tape to prepare them for their winter slumber, spreading woodchips, moving solarizing tarps and preparing an area for a future fruit tree orchard! aka...we’ll be having fun!

No experience necessary, just a kind heart!! You can get more information and RSVP at the link in our bio.

This will be our last work day of the season.
Thanks for being the wind beneath our wings and we’ll see you in the field!

P.S. we were tied for which flyer to use so we used both!! enjoy :)
