My favorite garden room for dried herbs in Sicily

From Garden to Kitchen
I love cooking with my fresh and dried herbs from my garden

Fresh herbs from the garden are one of the quiet luxuries of cooking—and drying them lets you carry that pleasure into the colder months.
We've dried them for you.

Our culinary bouquets are available exclusively at our lavender plant sale while supplies last.

Culinary Bouquets of Scented Beauty

Can you smell them?

Our culinary lavender is blessing us with a beautiful second bloom, and I have been out in the field and garden gathering my fragrant herbs for my beloved culinary bouquets.

For six years, I have created these small garden bundles for shops, private clients, dear friends, and fellow cooks who enjoy the simple, delicious gifts of the season.
This year, I was also delighted that the Lavender Festival chose some of our bouquets to share.

Each bouquet is handmade with fresh culinary lavender and herbs grown here at Jo’s Farms: rosemary, thyme, basil, and, new this year, mint—one of my favorite additions for brightening teas, desserts, salads, and special dishes.
The oregano culinary bouquets sold out right away -apologies.

They are lovely to hand in your kitchen ... filling the kitchen with the scent of lavender and herbs.
As they dry, they become even more treasured—ready to bring the flavor and beauty of our garden into autumn and winter cooking.

Our lavender field and herb gardens flourished so beautifully this season, and I am deeply grateful.

In a year when so many gardens have struggled through heat and drought, these little bouquets feel especially precious: gathered by hand, made with love, and created just for you.

We will be selling them at our Lavender Plant Sale which starts next Friday, September 11th through Sunday, September 13th from 8am-1pm (while supplies last !!)

Of course we will our Grosso fragrant dried lavender bouquets and dried culinary lavender bouquets for sale also along with our artisan lavender products.

We look forward to helping you start your lavender garden and we look forward to welcoming you to our lavender farm very soon.

Plant the beauty, harvest the calm!
Low maintenance - drought-tolerant - pollinator-friendly

There’s something deeply exciting about having a garden to return to—especially as the seasons begin to shift.

Every visit offers a small discovery: a new bloom opening, a plant stretching toward the sun, a task waiting for tomorrow, or a variety you’ve never grown before.

A garden gives us a reason to step outside, slow down, get our hands in the soil, and look forward to what’s still to come.

Drought tolerant gardens are having their moment and happily that includes lavender!!!

Join us at Jo’s Farms Lavender Flower Farm for our final lavender plant sale of the season, September 11, 12, and 13, from 8 AM–1 PM.

It is a beautiful time to add lavender to your garden and bring home something you’ll enjoy returning to for seasons ahead.

Bring home the beauty, scent (and calm!) of lavender
Low maintenance - drought-tolerant - pollinator-friendly!!!

Harvest Time

It is the season of fleeting golden hours, when summer begins its gentle turn toward September and the lingering warmth of Indian Summer. It’s also the time of year for me to gather what the season has so beautifully given.

This is the time when my thoughts turn from fresh-cut flowers to seed heads, pods, and the treasures that will carry the garden forward into another year. Beautiful forms worth saving.

My flower shed, potting shed and greenhouse begins to fill again, this time with armfuls of drying flowers, sculptural branches, and faded blooms

And the rich tassels of my gorgeous Amaranth and Love-Lies-Bleeding hang heavy with seeds, ready to be gathered, dried, and shared.

I know how much you all love our amaranth, so I am busy collecting seeds for our yearly offering. We will have them available again this season, so you may sow a little of this wild, romantic abundance in your own gardens.

And, of course, we will be drying the magnificent branches as well—saving their deep color and cascading form to decorate our outdoor Christmas trees when winter arrives.

Our final lavender plant sale of the season is here—and even the chickens are stopping by for a sniff.

At Jo’s Farms, we have beautiful one-gallon lavender plants ready for their next garden home: Grosso, Provence, and Phenomenal.

If lavender has ever felt difficult to grow, meet Phenomenal—a wonderfully hardy, fragrant variety that is remarkably easy to grow and beautiful in both the garden and the kitchen. Its strong, sweet floral perfume is everything you want from lavender: lovely drifting through an open window, gathered into bouquets, or clipped fresh for cooking and baking.

A true culinary lavender, Phenomenal is perfect for infusing sugars, cream, butter, and honey—or adding a fragrant flourish to cakes, shortbread, scones, and savory chicken dishes as I do.
We offered it last year, and it quickly became a favorite.

Come choose yours before the season’s final plants are gone.

The lavender is fragrant, the flower cart is full (or will be full very soon !!), and apparently, it has been chicken-approved.

Join us September 11th, 12th and 13th for our final lavender plant sale of the season!
Planting instructions included !!!

THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!! Finally, a “Phenomenal ” Lavender!!!
Appropriately dubbed “Phenomenal “ .. it’s so good that it’s now being used for municipal plantings.

We started growing Phenomenal Lavender in our field a few years ago for a trial run and started propagating and selling the plants last spring for the first time and what we discovered was nothing short of well “Phenomenal”.

It is “Phenomenal” because it is exceptionally tolerant of both hot and cold weather, and it’s SO easy to grow!!!

But wait, there’s more!! The color is deep, deep purple and the gorgeous flowers are highly fragrant due to its high oil content.

But for us, Phenomenal’s strongest appeal lies in its hardiness.

This is why you will love it…It requires little to no maintenance and seldom needs pruning and as with all lavender, it’s drought tolerant.
We’ve received such amazing feedback from our clients who purchased Phenomenal lavender from us last year.

So excited to be selling this one again at our Lavender Plant Sale very soon!!!
Now, thanks to Phenomenal, we Americans can grow the classic purple hedgerows, that so remind us of France.
And who doesn’t long for a taste of Provence?

Our last lavender plant sale of the season September 11th, 12th and 13th

Don't miss it!

At Jo’s Farms, what you see shared here is only a glimpse into the life we once dreamed of building and the journey that quietly, slowly unfolded to bring it to life.
What is not always visible are the risks taken, the sleepless nights, the financial strain, the uncertainty, and the countless moments of rebuilding. Behind every image lives a story of sacrifice, learning, resilience, and a steady, unwavering determination to keep moving forward.
Each time we return home, and each time we welcome a client to walk the property—to wander through the lavender fields, the greenhouse, the shop, the flower shed, and the potting shed—we are always struck by how surreal it can feel.

Every corner holds a memory—an idea once imagined, a vision once distant, a dream that slowly, patiently became a way of life. And through it all, we simply kept going.

Because a beautiful home, a flourishing garden, a life shaped with intention—these are rarely the result of chance.

They are created through years of thoughtful decisions, persistence, hard work, and a quiet refusal to give up, even when the path feels uncertain and with the help of dear friends !!!

And each summer, as the lavender blooms once again, we are reminded how far we have come.

That meaningful things take time—to build, to grow, to create, to become. In a world that often rushes past the process, we hold close the understanding that beauty is not instant—it is cultivated.

I share this as a gentle reminder that dreams are rarely perfect and never rushed.

They are built slowly, imperfectly, and with great care—one step at a time.
For me, the beauty was never the destination.
It has always been in the creating.
And with each passing season, we are reminded of this life we have built—this labor of love—and we remain deeply grateful.

Jo's Farms.. our Lavender field, apple orchard, shop, A-Frame flower shed, greenhouse and my new potting shed to be revealed this winter in a new press feature ..stay tuned is everything to us and we love to share it with all of you.

Heartfelt thank you for following us on this journey and thank you lavender lovers for all your support. Truly, it is everything to us!
We'd love to help you start your lavender garden.
Join us September 11th, 12th and 13th for our final lavender plant sale of the season!

Fondly,
JJ & Lisa
