September was National Mushroom month, a perfect time when the temperatures change and the mushrooms get a deserved break from the heat. October 15th is National Mushroom Day and we want to celebrate by honoring the mushroom in all its forms. We have tried our best to showcase our funghi friends in the best possible light by offering foraged, freshly cultivated, mushroom teas and tinctures and of course all the fun fungus related apparel in our spore front. Just put a mushroom on it and enjoy the gifts the mushrooms offer us in taste and health. Stop by the shop for 30% off apparel and gifts, and 20% off all fresh mushrooms including foraged. Our slogan since day has been “Eat More Mushrooms”! And we mean it. We love to celebrate the diversity of mushrooms that exist but no matter what, encourage everyone to get fresh mushrooms in their diets at least two days per week. There is some seasonality to our grow and in the summer months we grow lots of lions mane and oysters. With the fall weather transition we will increase our production of colder weather varieties such as shiitake, black pearl golden enoki and chestnut. While we like to offer a lot of variety all the time, sometimes you gotta go with what’s really in season. We are stocked with which are an awesome source for and can help manage blood sugar, cholesterol and the immune system. The oyster mushroom really is a versatile, tasty choice mushroom that would go great in any dish or health regimen. Next time you’re at the market, don’t pass by the oyster, embrace it!
