Burque Brew Crew

Burque Brew Crew We LOVE beer! We have a bougeoning beer culture in Albuquerque, and it deserves an organized group dedicated to the preservation of theat culture.

It was almost a joke when we made "Burque Brew Crew" T-Shirts for Septemberfest, but what we realized is that there is a need for more than just a "meetup" group dedicated to beer. Enter, Burque Brew Crew. You might say, "But what about ABQBeer Geek?"
We admire and respect Patrick, and are working with him, not against him. We want to highlight the endeavours of local homebrewers in addition to co

vering craft brew news and events. You might also say, "I think i've seen this before, ABQ Beer Drinkers, right?"
Well, not exactly...
ABQ Beer Drinkers is great, they have been influential in events both public and private, which is great, but at Burque Brew Crew, we are looking to put a name and a face to the support of good beer. Stay tuned for news about T-Shirts, and the Burque Brew Card, a membership to local barley traders in the 505.

Over the last couple of years, lots of brewing has still been going on. Dialing in recipes and techniques has been our focus. Sorry for the long hiatus!

Molé stout, Belgian Wit, and a Scotch ale on tap right now. Trippel in bottles and a SMASH Steam beer on deck. Steam has nothing to do with the way its brewed, but by using a lager yeast at ale temperatures. And SMASH is Single Malt and Single Hop beer. Isolating the flavors of malt and hops. Cheers!

A beer mans job never ends, even though I'm on vacation I still feel the need to share something of wonderment with you guys. While cruising the beer section I happened on a much sought after beer that we cannot get back here in Abq the ever elusive Dogfish Head. The one we have here is the 60 minute ipa, a beer that has been hop blasted for the entire boil which lends itself to a great hop profile, but still remains balanced butt souther malt they put onto this great beer, Prosit!

Burque Brew Crew hops are starting to pop up; Willamette and Cascade to name a couple. This with the (step by step) addition of a brew tree, we are looking towards an exciting summer. What summer beers or beer relatedness are You looking forward to?

Considering a small tasting in the near future featuring something hoppy, something red, something malty (in multiple ways) and something old and brown! Would there be any interest in that?

After a long hiatus I'm back.and back with a new edition from the boys up at the Ska brewery. Here is the next one in their seasonal stout program, its a chocolate mint stout...yes you read right. Thru couldn't call it an Andies mint stout due to copyright restrictions. No strong mint aroma upon first inspection and only after a few sips you start to pinpoint the very subtle mint character and the great malt character of a stout. It's a nice change to see in an ocean of mediocrity as of late from different breweries. Prosit to the Ska boys!

Nexus has change quite a bit. Feels more like restaurant now then a brewery, which is cool, but this page is about beer. This current beer is a casked imperial. Nice solid start, pleasant body, and a lingering fruity flavor. Fu***ng delicious.

Small batch 1 gallon cider is now in 4th week. Bubbling has stopped, clarity is returning. Wondering what to do next.
