Nice straight rows of garlic. Ahead of any weeds, so beautiful

Nice straight rows of garlic. Ahead of any weeds, so beautiful
That time of the year again. Fall carrots have been seeded. Flame weeding kills the little weeds that have germinated before the carrots pop through the ground.
Last load of garlic out of the field Friday afternoon. Great harvest. Now I believe I’ll plant buckwheat as a cover crop in the open ground. That should make for some delicious honey in 8 weeks.
Garlic harvest has begun. First time ever in June. Quite early. But beautiful crop this year.
Potatoes are growing nicely! Gradually hilling them up, covering weeds and making them easier to dig later.
Sweet corn is coming along nicely.
Rigged up a couple of flame throwers on the back of the cultivation tractor. The tractor gets all the weeds between the rows. But sometimes misses a few in the row. This will burn them off without hurting the garlic crop.
Safeguarding the lettuce crop from our four legged friends.
Watering again...
Things are happening!
Got the seed potatoes all cut today. Now it’s time to put them in the ground. Shouldn’t have any weather restrictions this week!
Even during these rainy days there’s plenty to do. Tomatoes are in and growing.
First kale into the last winter share. With interplanted beets. A fun experiment
Some crops are loving these wetter days. Garlic looks beautiful this spring.
Concrete down. My little helpers such eager workers. What a perfect day.
Progress. I got to play carpenter with Case while others process the first spinach!
First construction project started. Emptied out the potting shed off the greenhouse. A little "spring cleaning"
Followed by a slight addition to the west. Concrete is ordered for Friday, progress.
Last of the carrots harvested yesterday. All the coolers are full of nutritious vegetables. And now all the deferred maintenance begins. As well as a little sitting around the fireplace.
Got the last of the cabbage harvested today. We just keep getting beautiful days to put up these crops. A little bitter sweet though, it was the last crop I got to harvest with my father, Daniel. He is missed greatly but I'm happy to follow in the footsteps he left.
Parsnips! Our first harvest ever.
Carrot harvest is always rewarding. Like digging for treasure. We had a beautiful day, and got over 5000 pounds of carrots out of the ground.

What beautiful fall weather.
Normally the carrot harvesting consists of many layers of clothing and warm gloves. Today, no mud, no warm gloves, but perhaps some sweat. What a day, and with so many helpers. 4 generations in the field today! A beautiful thing.
Half of the farms garlic in the ground. The weather brought out all kinds of helpers.
Last box of the summer season. What a beautiful season we've had. Thank you all to your support of our family's farm. We are very blessed to feed such wonderful people.
Tried some scallions for the fall. They turned out real nice. Fennel for this weeks share. And kohlrabi for winter shares. Such beautiful colors.
Fall carrots are here. A what beautiful ones this year. Perfect weather today to harvest some.
Dry beans harvested yesterday. Three varieties this year. They'll be in our winter shares. Not without a few problems but a job well done.
New plastic for the high tunnel yesterday. Its a big job but it went well. Many hands and only a little wind. Photo credits to Teresa
Now there's a girl serious about her carrots!
Fun new trial on the farm. We made a three row flame weeder. It burns the germinated weeds just before the carrots emerge. The key is timing. It take carrots about 7 days to germinate, so i burned the rows on day 5. Doing every other bed, to see the difference. The top picture is flamed and the bottom wasn't. Pretty cool how well it worked.
