Crazy weather. The thermostatic fans in our run-in sheds just cut on! Secret ran to her shed when she heard it, just like it was summertime, even though the winter blankets are still hanging on the fence for the nighttime temps in the 20s. Good grief.

Loving this 2009 photo of homebred weanling TB "Sport" (JC Sam Maguire; Rugby x Sassy Alarm, Artax). Now all grown up, nearly snow white. And fortunately still owned and loved by a Middleburg area family, so we catch a glimpse of him from time to time.

The end of Life As She Knows It has come for the Princess: after years of negotiating, she had her first fitting for a grazing muzzle. I promised her it will work on the spring grass much better than the last old round bale in the dry lot. ๐Ÿ˜•

We're delighted to welcome this adorable weanling colt to stay with us for a few months. He's half-Arab, half-Hanoverian, and all sweetness. It's so nice to have a youngster on the farm again.

We said a sad goodbye today to Zia Red Chief, a friend of many many years. He was 27, and that big old heart of his was finally giving out. Condolences to his loving owner Alice, and to his constant companion Secret for the past several years. I have never seen such a closely bonded pair, especially since Chief began losing his vision a few years ago. We are grateful to be able to lay him to rest here on the farm alongside of a few of his old companions. We'll miss you, big guy. RIP.
