There’s something pretty special about a night where kids get to stay up way past their bedtime. But even more exciting? Getting up close and personal with some of the river’s most incredible monsters!

This past weekend, our Little Wilderness crew headed to the St. Croix River for one of our favorite annual adventures, and what a trip it was! From massive sturgeon to hard-fighting flathead catfish and plenty of sheepshead, these young anglers experienced the thrill of chasing fish they’ll be talking about for years.

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was catching not just 1, but 2 tagged sturgeon, giving our participants a unique opportunity to be part of ongoing conservation and research efforts while creating memories on the water!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to our incredible guides, Rick with Cats on the Croix Fishing and Louis with Sportfishing MN. The experience you provide these young outdoor enthusiasts is truly priceless. The patience, knowledge, and passion you share create memories that inspire kids to keep exploring, keep learning, and keep chasing adventure. We are so, so appreciative of everything you do to make this trip such a success year after year!

Some traditions are just too special not to pass down to the next generation 🦆

Years ago, Dad was the little boy bundled up and heading out to the duck blind, learning the traditions of hunting from the generations before him. Now, looking through those old scrapbook photos and seeing him take his own 4-year-old son, Henry along feels pretty special.

The waders might be smaller and the mornings might require a few more snacks, but the tradition remains the same. It’s about so much more than the hunt—it’s early mornings, time outdoors, learning patience, making memories, and being together.

Someday, these photos will be part of another scrapbook, and hopefully another generation will be looking back at them🤎

So many things go unnoticed in nature when we’re moving too fast.🍂

Get kids outside! Teach them to slow down, look closer, listen, and wonder. Because once they learn what’s really out there, the outdoors will never look the same again.

Saturday we had 13 youth join Little Wilderness and the Ruffed Grouse Society for our 1st annual grouse hunt!

While no grouse were harvested, the kids gained something just as valuable—experience! They learned from our guides, watched the dogs work, explored grouse habitat, and got a firsthand look at what a real grouse hunt is all about.

A huge thank you to our guides, dog handlers, volunteers, Isanti County Sportsman’s Club for sponsoring, and everyone else who helped make this day possible🤎
