My name is Julie Rye and I am a mom and hobby baker working on starting my own business in Alexandria, MN. I love to bake, and making crazy and elaborate fondant decorated cakes and cupcakes is my specialty. Each cake or cupcake is custom made with your ideas and vision in mind. Everything I make is made from scratch and made to order for your event. I make each fondant creation by hand, which is

sometimes a labor of love. I have base-prices for all of my cakes, but each cake is priced on an individual basis, depending on how large or elaborate your design requests are. This week, was a little bit different for me. I was contacted a couple of months ago by Icing Smiles. An organization that I had sent in my information to, where families can apply to have a Baker make them a cake, typically for a child or sibling of a child with a medical diagnosis of some sort.

I had applied last year, and this was my first request, and I'm so glad I was able to fulfill it. This cake was for a sweet little fighter, turning 4 tomorrow. "Princesses and pink" were the main requests. She was in awe when she saw it this morning. Which is all I could have wanted! Happy Birthday Sweet, Brinley!

After I got back in the van, and they pulled away. I broke down. I am so blessed to have 4, healthy children. I can't imagine the sadness and stress that having a sick child puts on a family. When you, as a parent, want nothing to do but take it for them, but you can't. Just a reminder to slow down and enjoy life. We don't know what's in store for us, but I know the writer of my story, and that His plans are good, Engen if we can't always understand them. 🩷💜

Back at it! Cakes to celebrate a 95th birthday.

A 9", chocolate cake with vanilla creme mouselline filled layers, decorated with vanilla buttercream, fondant flowers, rock candy, and buttercream flowers.

The sheet cake was marble with vanilla buttercream and buttercream flowers.

Realizing I never shared the cake from last week!

So nostalgic to make something I loved so much as a kid! I guess I'm not the only one... although, Donkey Kong Country was more of my game, not Zelda.

The cake was Orange Creamsicle (fresh orange cake, marshmallow cream filling) and decorated in fondant. The game cartridge and controllers were made from Orange Cream Rice Krispie treats.

A cake for our little buddy, our sweet nephew who just turned 3 this past Monday!

Chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream and chopped up Reese's. Trash Truck style! He's a little boy that loves diggers, garbage trucks, and all things that go!

I did this once before, and had some time to do it again..... does anyone want to "Bless a Business" with some cupcakes?

I've got 4 dozen cupcakes (GF Lemon- Raspberry, GF Chocolate- Peanut Butter, Regular Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Regular Apple Crisp) to share with one, possibly two LOCAL businesses. They would need to be picked up today or tomorrow. Comment below and we can figure something out!

Forgot to post this quick cake from Halloween!

A John Deere tractor cake to celebrate a farmer's birthday.

The cake was a dairy- free vanilla cake with dairy- free vanilla frosting. The tractor was made with fondant and completely edible. The "dirt" was chocolate animal cracker cookie crumbs.

Young Life Dessert Dash tonight! Sounds like they have a great lineup of amazing local (and a few non- local big names 😉) bakers' sweet treats up for grabs! I sent in 2 desserts again this year. I hope they're enjoyed!
