🚜 The manure wasn’t the problem. But the headline sure makes it sound that way.

Farmers are already under enough scrutiny without headlines that unnecessarily imply agriculture is to blame for an accident.

Instead, this could have been a great opportunity for our local news outlets to share an important reminder: Harvest season is here, and our roads are getting busier with farm equipment!

🌽 A few reminders as you travel our rural roads:
1. Slow down and give farm equipment plenty of space.
2. Be patient. That tractor or combine is probably only going a short distance.
3. NEVER pass unless you have a clear view and it is safe to do so. NO PASSING ZONES MEAN NO PASSING
4. Pay extra attention at intersections surrounded by tall corn. Visibility can be extremely limited, and you may not see another vehicle or piece of equipment until you're right at the intersection.

Farmers have a responsibility to operate safely, but sharing the road is EVERYONE'S responsibility.

We aren't asking for special treatment. We're asking for fair reporting and a little awareness during one of the busiest times of the year for agriculture.

At Lakeshore Land & Livestock, we know firsthand the long hours that go into farming. Every farmer, every truck driver and every family traveling our rural roads deserves to make it home safely.

Let's use our platforms to promote safety instead of unnecessarily pointing fingers.

And to our local news outlets: We'd love to see more public service announcements about rural road safety during planting and harvest. That's a headline worth sharing. ❤️

🇺🇸 From our farm to Washington, D.C.

Last week, Lakeshore Land & Livestock had the opportunity to head to Washington, D.C. to advocate for agriculture.

We spent time on Capitol Hill meeting with policymakers and sharing what agriculture looks like from our side of the farm gate — the challenges farm families are facing, the opportunities ahead, and why decisions made in Washington matter back home in rural Wisconsin.

One of the best parts? Keaton and McCoy got to be part of those conversations, too. They shared our farm story with policymakers and talked about what growing up in agriculture looks like for them. As parents, it was pretty special to step back and watch the next generation find their own voices and tell the story of the farm they’re growing up on. ❤️

Advocacy isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, building relationships and making sure the people making decisions hear directly from the families who are raising the food.

We’re proud to be the sixth generation on our farm, and experiences like this remind us why it’s so important to keep showing up — not just for our farm today, but for the generations we hope will have the opportunity to farm tomorrow.

Sharing a little of our story tonight and how tariffs and imported beef are affecting us right here on our farm. 🍔🇺🇸

We’re beef farmers, but we’re consumers too. We buy groceries, fill the gas tank, raise kids and feel that same financial squeeze so many families are feeling.

We understand why everyone wants relief at the grocery store. But increasing lower-cost imported beef or reducing tariffs has consequences here at home. American cattle producers are already facing high input costs, tight cattle supplies and plenty of uncertainty. Decisions that may look like a quick fix for consumers can have a long-term impact on the family farms and ranches producing our food.

One thing we can control is where we spend our dollars.

When you can, buy U.S. beef. Buy directly from a local farmer. Ask where your beef comes from. Support the families raising food in your own communities.

You don’t have to spend every food dollar locally to make a difference. Every purchase is a vote for the kind of food system—and the kind of farms—you want to see here for the next generation. ❤️

🐖 Years ago, we took a leap and started selling our beef directly to local families. What started as a small idea has grown into relationships, conversations, and the opportunity to feed families in our community.

This fall, we’re taking another leap.

We’re excited to share that Lakeshore Land & Livestock is now raising pigs and will be offering locally raised pork beginning in October!

Just like our beef, our pork will be raised right here on our farm with the same care, commitment, and values that guide everything we do.

To start, we’ll be offering pork by the half or whole hog. If we have any available beyond our pre-orders, we’ll also stock our retail freezer with individual cuts.

As farmers, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing the food we raise ends up around your family’s dinner table. We’re grateful for the support you’ve shown our family and our farm, and we’re excited to offer another delicious option for your freezer.
