Wagyu beef has a naturally healthier fat profile than traditional beef. We rendered another batch of our Sand Plum Wagyu beef tallow, and just look at that beautiful golden color. 🤩

Beef tallow is great for frying potatoes, searing steaks, roasting vegetables, seasoning cast iron, or anywhere you want a rich, beefy cooking fat.

Now THAT was a welcome sight this morning! 🌧️❤️

We were thankful to wake up to 6/10 of an inch of much-needed rain here at the Copenhaver Ranch.

After the heat and dry weather we’ve had lately, it certainly wasn’t enough to fix everything, but we’ll gladly take every drop we can get. The pastures, cattle and everyone around here were ready for a little relief!

And the cooler weather that came with it wasn’t too bad either. 🤠

Well… unfortunately, we have some sad watermelon news. 🍉😢

The combination of this heat wave and drought finally got the best of our watermelon patch. We had a beautiful crop coming on and were really looking forward to having plenty of Sand Plum watermelons this year, but Mother Nature had other plans.

We know several of you have been waiting and wondering when the watermelons would be ready, so we wanted to give you an update. Unfortunately, there won’t be a watermelon crop from us this year.

That’s farming. Some years you have more than you know what to do with, and other years you watch a promising crop dry up before it ever makes it to harvest. 🌱

We sure hate it — and we know some of you will too! Hopefully next year Mother Nature is a little kinder to us. ❤️🍉

Some of you have known us for years, and some of you may only know us as Sand Plum Wagyu, so we thought it was time to put a few faces with the name! 🤠

We’re Larry and Carrie Copenhaver, along with our little ranch hand, Tate.

Sand Plum Wagyu is raised right here on the Copenhaver Ranch in northwest Oklahoma. From caring for the cattle to hauling beef home from the processor and meeting customers, this really is a family operation.

We’re proud to offer Oklahoma Premium Wagyu, born and raised right here on our ranch, and we’re even more thankful for the customers who choose to buy their beef directly from us.

Whether you’ve been buying from us since the beginning, just recently found our page, or simply follow along to see what’s happening on the ranch, we’re glad you’re here!

A few nights ago I tossed some beef back ribs in the smoker for for supper. Summer is the season for smoking and grilling!

Summer is one of our favorite times of the year. After a long day, there’s nothing better than cooking outside and sharing a meal with family and friends.
