While our chickens rest for winter, we're growing some exciting additions for spring:

Estate trees: poplars, maples, and oaks

Flowering trees: dogwoods and redbuds

Nut-bearing black walnuts, hickories, and hazelnuts

Fruit-bearing persimmons

Fast-growing trees: willows for basketry

For your garden, we'll have:

Shade-loving plants: Hostas and partridgeberry groundcovers

Berry plants: Blackberries, elderberries, and currants

Watch for announcements of spring plant sales!

Hey there! 👋 Quick update about our winter break:

Store taking a winter snooze (about 90 days)

Why? Our hens are on their annual winter slow-down

Some eggs still available, but saving those for our pre-paid customers

Back in action: March 2025 (when our hens get their groove back with more daylight!)

The hens are laying about twenty eggs daily!

We have about one dozen eggs every day being laid!

I placed eggs into the nest boxes to encourage hens to use the nest boxes rather than crowding the coop. It has helped. Some of the hens are taking the hint but not all. This is about three days of farm-fresh eggs collected then given an enzyme rinse and scrub.

These two chicks were hatched today. The white spot indicates a high probability this is a male. I'll vent check later.
