Anybody else like to indulge in pizza on Sundays? We do! 😋 🍕
Fun facts on why you should visit Pizzeria Testa:
They are known for their fresh, light and pure, authentic Neapolitan pizza that brings a few simple ingredients together in a way that’s both satisfying and full of flavor. The flour that they use is imported from Naples. The tomatoes are grown in only one place on earth – the rich volcanic soil in the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius. Picked at their peak ripeness, they are less acidic and exhibit a natural sweetness that caramelizes in the intense heat of the wood-fired oven. The cheese they use is mozzarella di buffala (water buffalo milk mozzarella) from the Campania region just outside of Naples or fresh fior di latte is permitted. The meat is hand selected primarily from different regions in Italy. The herbs are hand picked from the herb gardens that surround their patios. The wine comes from boutique wineries in Italy. They tasted 100s of wines and selected a few that would allow customers to enjoy a great wine, that pairs well with the food, at reasonable price. Pretty awesome!
When you come here, you MUST start with the Rosette. We went with the Salami Rosette which is Sweet Salami, Ricotta, Fior di Latte and Basil. The outside had a nice crisp to it and the inside was warm, soft and chewy. The cheese used inside of this is to die for! This puts all garlic bread and mozzarella sticks to shame!
For pizza, we couldn’t decide between red or white sauce so we got one of each 😄🤷🏻♀️. We went with the Testa Rossa and Bianca. The Testa Rosa includes San Marzano Tomatoes, Fior di Latte, Basil, Spianata (Hot) and EVOO. At first, we weren’t sure if we were going to love it because we are huge cheese lovers and as you can tell from the picture, it doesn’t look like there is much cheese on top. Boy were we wrong! Their red sauce is so good that you don’t need the pizza smothered in cheese. Plus, the spianata gave the pizza the perfect hint of spice. It was great! The second pizza, the Bianca, includes Fior di Latte, Ricotta and Oven Baked Sausage. This was very light and delicious! They don’t actually use Alfredo sauce for this pizza. Instead, they use olive oil which was great because you could really enjoy the cheese and delicious sausage. My only complaint is that they did not have ranch (yes, even on fantastic pizza I like to dip my crust in ranch). However, I will say that it didn’t bother me too much because the pizza was that good!
Last but not least, drinks! 🍸 We ordered the Italian Daisy and Basil Gimlet. The Italian Daisy is Tito’s, Aperol, and Lime Juice. So refreshing, light, and not too sweet. The Basil Gimlet is Malfy Lemon Gin, Simple, Lime Juice, and Basil. Crazy thing is, I do not like gin and loved this drink! They infuse their gin with lemon which gives it a completely different taste. Don’t pass these two drinks up! Both were fantastic!
