A small regenerative agriculture farm, providing local, all natural, high humane, 100% grass fed & finished beef, pastured pork & poultry, maple syrup and seasonal produce, all without pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, soy or GMOs We are a small generational family farm, providing local "beyond-organic" hand-tended seasonal produce and meats grown without any conventional agricu

ltural or commercial chemicals of any kind, wild-harvested foods, natural treats for wildlife, jams and jellies, baked goods, pasture-raised eggs and poultry, miniature milk goats, pasture-raised Dexter cattle, grass-fed Dexter beef shares, open-pollinated heirloom seeds, rag rug, quilts, antiques, reclaimed furniture and decor, hand-crafted natural products, old-fashioned home goods and more. Our inspiration to provide such food purity was the many years of battling infertility and the countless dozens of miscarriages we suffered over the years, and our one living miracle--our incredible son Nathan. We have learned much on our journey, and still spend much time pouring over research, trying new methods, trying old methods our grandparents used, and practice, practice, practice! After years of tilled, chemical-based mono-cropping, we have recovered our small family farm first with certified organic practices, now utilizing the healthier practices of permaculture and regenerative agriculture without the use of any commercial agricultural chemicals or pharmaceuticals in order to provide our clients with food and other products that are as pure and natural as possible. It is our goal to grow and raise food products and make hand-crafted home goods in a sustainable and ecologically-friendly manner, to learn as we evolve, and to share what we learn with our customers and friends to help ensure a healthy planet for many generations to come.

Sometimes on a farm, SHTF has a whole ‘nother meaning…😘

It’s okay, it’s just our all-natural compost! ❤️

Why genetics matter… We pulled these two steers aside, each from completely unrelated genetics, that have NO fly repellent or other pesticide treatment, to show a genetic comparison. It’s clearly obvious that one lineage has a natural genetic advantage against flies versus the other lineage… This isn’t a “fluke”. The animals from the lineage of the steer with less flies has ALWAYS had less flies attracted to them than the animals from the other lineage. Yes, epigenetics can change this, and natural fly remedies can help, but these remedies cost additional work and money that we are striving to reduce that cost so we can keep our prices affordable. In addition, the steer with more flies looks like the nicer steer—slicker coat, “fat”, etc, but that just proves that LOOKS can be deceiving! Both of these steers will probably weigh about the same, and both will still taste FANTASTIC! 😋

Squash "bug" versus squash "vine borer"

This is the result of just a couple of years bale feeding a small herd of Dexter cattle on soil destroyed by intensive conventional crop farming. The hard packed sand with the short type grass and weeds in the picture in the comments is what we started with in this pasture, the soft black soil in this video is what we have here now! We can put a good annual forage on it, or permanently seed it with a perennial grass which is probably what we will be doing. We have been using livestock for many years to heal the land we have, piece by piece, acre by acre, over 50 years of annual rock harvests…

Oi! The herd has been out enjoying the big pasture (aka avoiding us 🤣) while we were busy prepping the new hay field, and when we were checking on Fawn’s calf tonight, Mom noticed there was an EXTRA CALF! Sometime in the last 2 days, Mellie blessed us with a beautiful little red heifer 💖 but I missed her debut! Soooo… Welcome to the World precious little surprise! 💖 Now to come up with an M name for this pretty girl… 💖 Mona? Moira? Maisie..??? Mellie has her mother Maple’s incredible udder, so this little girl might make someone a fabulous homestead milk cow, so she will need a perfect name… I like Maisie 💖 What do you all think?

Fawn blessed us with a beautiful tiny heifer this morning… Welcome to the World little Fleur! 💖 For reference how tiny Fawn is, that’s a 2.5 gallon pail, and Jewel is small-to-average for a 3 year old Dexter cow…

Between the rain, the mud, prepping the gardens, repairing equipment to get ready to plant the new plot of hay, brushing the undercoat out of the pups and calves being born… 3 weeks ago in the pouring rain, while I was doing morning chores, I heard this tiny pathetic “squeak”… I turned around to see a lump that could have easily been passed over for a big cow pie and run over it with the tractor, but it was this soaking wet and covered in cow 💩 juvenile cat! Have no idea where she came from because we only have Thomas and he’s neutered… She was literally skin and bones, so I dubbed her Bones from the tv show—one of my favorite tv characters. She was near death, and not joking Mom actually thought she had died in the night but could still hear her heart just barely, and we have been spoiling her ROTTEN 💖 She is starting to put on weight and is gaining some s***k! She “knows where her bread is buttered”, and apparently thinks she’s a dog… She’s the BOSS BABY 🤣 Oh, and Tink & Spot had a “baby”… lol that’s a life-size 3D pile of undercoat fluff out of them! 🤣

April showers bring… MUD. Not gonna lie! Moved the Momma Herd onto some fresh grass again yesterday, but Sherman decided he wanted to go to ANOTHER pasture, so instead of going with his harem, he went the other way and dragged his sorry butt through all the mud to stand at that fence and POUT like a toddler who couldn’t have ice cream for breakfast… 🤣 We eventually got him over with the herd, but he definitely didn’t want to cooperate 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣 We will be seeding that muddy winter lot when it dries out some… 🌱 Just SO MUCH RAIN!
