As I am scrolling through my FB feed, the only thing I can say is, man, I am very happy I am not playing the whole "is this a hen or rooster game?" Wow! The egg prices really brought out the chicken fans. Glad I hopped on that bandwagon years ago! 🀣 My Ladies are happy, established and laying at a great rate. Their eggs are fresh and delicious. I am currently sitting with 9 & 1/2 dozen. $3.50/dz if you are in need of any. 😊

This is Otis, he is a Buff Orpington rooster. Otis is a very kind gentleman. He stays out of everyones way, isn't loud, and is very kind to his ladies. I think he is quite handsome too.

Did you know?
Chickens molt. What is molting? When chickens molt, they lose and regrow new feathers each year. The molting process can last 3–16 weeks, depending on the bird.
Molting is a natural process in all chickens. It gives the reproductive tract a time to rejuvenate. In some cases most hens will slow down production of eggs until the molting process is complete. However, some hens are just happy no matter what is going on, and they can push through the molting time and not miss a beat when it comes to laying

Here are some signs that a chicken is molting:
Sudden and dramatic feather loss
Pale comb and wattles
Reduced or stopped egg production
Increased appetite, especially for protein
New feather growth
**Fall is beginning here in Northern Michigan and molting seems to be in full swing here at Roussin Family Coop
