🚨 VICTORY FOR ALPENA COUNTY! 🚨
This morning, our County Commissioners did the right thing and voted to END all negotiations with Blackwater NE!
What an incredible, hard-fought win for our community! Weeks of tireless work, passionate advocacy, emotional town halls, and unwavering investment from so many of you have paid off. You showed up. You spoke up. You refused to let our fairgrounds be sold off. And today, we proved that a united community can protect what matters most.
Our beloved fairgrounds, the heart and soul of Alpena, are safe for another day. This is more than a vote. This is proof that we can still save the best of ourselves, that our traditions, our memories, and our future are worth fighting for!
But friends, the fight isn’t over.
Year after year, outside interests keep circling our fairgrounds like vultures. We are not safe yet. We must keep the pressure on our commissioners to immediately approve a strong, mutually agreed-upon joint management agreement with the Alpena County Fair Board (ACFS).
Let’s secure our fairgrounds not just for today, but for the next 150 years, so our kids, our grandkids, and every generation after them can experience the joy, the laughter, the community, and the pride that only our fairgrounds can bring.
We did it once. Now let’s finish the job—together.
