The City of Alpharetta, City of Roswell, and Fulton County will be hosting a water testing workshop on October 21st!

Become a certified Georgia Adopt-A-Stream water monitoring volunteer!
This workshop will cover Chemical monitoring.

At the end of this workshop, with the completion of a written test, volunteers will be certified to perform Chemical testing for one year.

Chemical monitoring: Chemical monitors test the water's temperature, pH level, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen level. A written quiz must be passed to complete certification. Once certified, you can adopt sites convenient for you to monitor monthly.

Please bring a notebook, pen, water, and prepare to be outside.

This workshop is free, but registration is required. Link in our bio to register!

Meet Justin! Justin is our new Community Agriculture & Sustainability Volunteer Coordinator, and will be taking the lead on all things volunteer-related!

Justin grew up amidst landscapes that were patterned by rows of corn fields, dotted by silos, and outlined by surrounding woodlands. Exploring those environments sparked a curiosity in the agrarian way of things and set the foundation to excite a fascination with how working-lands can provoke the exchanges possible when humans merge with local agriculture and the earth provides abundance in return.

For nearly a decade, Justin has actively pursued a farming journey that was rooted in working at a local CSA vegetable farm and progressed to building his own diversified veggie & flower farm operation from scratch. Over the years his urban farm has explored a variety of diversified crop production means and methods including sales to both direct-to-consumer and wholesale market outlets, and also provided the grounds for participation in a regional research project focusing on climate-smart techniques in regenerative agriculture.

He’s honored to serve the community with this work and now enjoys pursuing meaningful collaboration with others to play Mother Nature’s ultimate game of growing, putting into action the sentiment: “to go fast go alone, but to go far go together.” Let’s Grow!

Meet the AGaretta Team!

Did you know AGaretta Box was founded in 2019 in partnership with the City of Alpharetta and students in Cambridge High School’s Agribusiness Management and Leadership class? These students head to the farm each day to learn hands-on about growing local produce, from fruits and vegetables to herbs and flowers!

Through their seasonal produce boxes, the AGaretta team connects our community with fresh, locally grown food. Each week’s box features a rotating selection of seasonal favorites, which may include lettuce, herbs, eggs, peppers, turnips, radishes, and more!

The students practice regenerative, organic, bio-intensive farming methods, avoiding persistent chemical-based herbicides and pesticides while learning how to grow responsibly and sustainably.

We’re proud to see these young agricultural leaders growing more than just food. They’re cultivating agricultural awareness, supporting local food systems, and inspiring the next generation of growers!

Meet Anita! Anita is our new Community Agriculture & Sustainability Grower Program Coordinator, and will be taking the lead on communications, program details, and development for our community growing programs.

A longtime member of the Old Rucker Farm community, Anita has spent her career bringing people, ideas, and community projects together through her work in outreach and events, marketing, and economic development. She brings a creative and entrepreneurial perspective, along with a lifelong love of growing flowers and vegetables.

A Journeyman Farmer-certified grower, Anita has a deep appreciation for nature and is especially passionate about the connection between agriculture, agritourism, and the local economy. She has taught sustainable floral workshops throughout the community and designs flowers for weddings and special events.

She’s excited to be part of the Community Ag team and to help nurture the people, projects, and possibilities that make Old Rucker Farm so special.
