It’s officially shade cloth season!!!! High tunnels are oft lauded for their season extension thru-out winter, but their efforts in summer are an unsung hero around these parts.

Besides controlling soil saturation while keeping finicky plants’ foliage dry, the ability to be draped in shade lowering temps almost 10 degrees can extend fruit production well past usual harvest windows. Once it gets into the 90s, the pollen will all but bake sterilizing the flower causing it to wither and fall off. No flowers, no fruit!!!
