This is a new thing I tried last year. It was so successful I am doing it again. Save old toilet paper rolls, fill with seed starting mix(I mix some worm castings in mine), plant a carrot in each one. Mine go on a warmer under lights but they can go in a sunny window. When it’s time to plant carrots outside (for me that is mid March) they get planted outside in the tubes. It allows for great spacing and no weeds. Since carrots normally can’t get started early because transplanting damages them, this really works to get earlier carrots.

And so it begins!! Icesnowpocolypse 2026. I have built all kinds of shelter structures so the chickens can get out. It is supposed to change to sleet at noon and we are supposed to get a lot of it so I may have some ice pictures(my least favorite) then. Stay warm and safe everyone!!!
