Throughout the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we’re sharing stories from the women who are leading, innovating, and inspiring across every corner of agriculture.
Today, we’re meeting Meg Austin, a veterinarian and award-winning dairy farmer.
She helps run Cindale Farms in Marianna, Florida, with her husband. As a veterinarian, she helps keep the cows healthy with regular check-ups, breeding, and calving. She also helps run the farm by handling bookkeeping and daily operations.
“I love working outside and being with [my] family, but farm life isn’t always easy.” She says, “It involves long hours and creative problem-solving. . . . We have to find a way to keep everything running smoothly.” She continues, “Even on tough days, I stay positive by focusing on the good things – my family, our cows, and the delicious dairy products we create. It’s the little things that keep me going!”
