Bluff City originally opened in 1842 as the Union Brewery and in 1882 changed its name to Bluff City Brewery. While the brewery survived prohibition, it was forced to close its doors in 1952. Upon its opening, scheduled for Spring of 2014, Bluff City will be bringing a brewing tradition back to Alton that has been lost for over half a century. Locally focused, the lineup will include a wide variet

y of styles ranging from traditional German lagers and English ales to overly hopped West Coast IPA’s to high gravity, barrel aged barleywines and imperial stouts.
