With the end of the county fairs, it is also the end of an era here at Cast Iron Acres. Ava is 18 and has decided this was her last year in the show ring as a youth exhibitor. Also retiring from showing is Cast Iron Percy. Percy has been showing every year since she was 4 months old, first alongside her dam, then stepping out as a senior yearling, and finally as a cow with calf herself. She was Ava’s pick as a showmanship animal this final year and they finished strong together! Percy will now retire to the pasture to do her job as a cow while Ava heads off to her next great adventure at college! We will miss them both in the youth show ring!

Well it’s a wrap for Franklin Co. 2026! The Friday youth show went really well and Jelly Bean was a sweeper! She was the 2026 Youth show Supreme Champion!

All the other animals did extremely well also (except Melvin, as older age bulls are not allowed in the youth show). We had the champion for every heifer female division and Percy was reserve cow/calf.

Another success for Biggie as well- he was Reserve Champion steer!

Federal officials are now asking consumers in Texas and Florida to check their freezers for beef imported from Argentina.

The Food and Drug Administration's Food Safety and Inspection announced that Corte Argentino, a company based in Florida, recalled almost 30,000 pounds of raw beef products produced in May.
