Domaine Dyckerhoff Reuilly Blanc delivers so much of what we love about Loire Sauvignon Blanc — freshness, minerality, citrus and that clean, crisp finish — but without paying for the word Sancerre on the label.

And frankly, we’d put this bottle beside plenty of Sancerres costing considerably more.

Sometimes the best wines aren’t the most famous appellations. They’re the ones you’re glad someone introduced you to.

Our Broiled Lemon Shark is mild, lean, and surprisingly delicate—more like swordfish or mahi-mahi. Lightly seasoned and perfectly broiled, it has a firm, meaty texture with a clean, buttery finish that’s brightened with fresh lemon.

For the perfect pairing, enjoy it with Deltetto Suasi Langhe Chardonnay. Its crisp citrus, orchard fruit, and subtle minerality beautifully complement the delicate flavor of the shark without overpowering it.

Tonight we’re opening a bottle that many collectors would put away for the next 10–30 years.

Our first impressions? Pure elegance.

The wine opens with vibrant cranberry, red cherry and delicate floral notes. Compared to our 2022, the French oak is much more restrained, allowing the purity of the fruit and the character of Volnay to shine through. It’s beautifully balanced, silky on the palate and remarkably approachable for such a young Premier Cru, while still hinting at the complexity that will come with age.

As someone who collects Hospices de Beaune wines, I believe very few bottles combine all of these characteristics:

• Purchased directly by us at the Hospices de Beaune auction.
• Volnay 1er Cru Cuvée Blondeau, one of the Hospices’ most sought-after cuvées.
• The historic 2024 vintage, the first certified organic vintage from the Hospices de Beaune.
• Élevage by Domaine Michel Lafarge, one of Volnay’s benchmark producers. Hospices wines raised by Lafarge are exceptionally rare and seldom available in the United States.
• Complete provenance from barrel purchase through bottling, including our correspondence with Domaine Michel Lafarge.
• Every bottle comes from the single barrel we personally purchased at auction. Once these bottles are gone, this exact wine can never be recreated.

For those who have already reserved bottles—you’re in for a treat. And if you’re considering adding some to your cellar, several people are splitting cases if you prefer a half case.

Tonight’s glass is the 2017 Pianta Etna Bianco from Palmento Biondi, one of those wines that reminds me why we love discovering small, family-owned wineries.

In the glass, it’s developed a beautiful deep golden-orange hue. The nose is unmistakably Etna—sea spray, volcanic ash, crushed stone, citrus peel, and a touch of honey. On the palate, it’s textured, balanced, and remarkably easy to drink, with enough freshness to keep everything in harmony without being aggressively acidic.

This is a fantastic pairing for grilled swordfish, salmon, roasted chicken, or other richer dishes that benefit from a wine with both texture and minerality.

Only 3,113 bottles were produced, and we’re fortunate to still have a small allocation available in the U.S. Sometimes the most memorable wines aren’t the famous labels—they’re the ones almost no one else has the opportunity to experience.
