🌱BEAUTY 🌱

It’s the simple things that make things beautiful.
The movement from one area to the next.
The joy in an animals body movements that show you they are happy.
The small improvements in body condition of a cow that is dried up or calf that is weaned and growing up.

It’s the simple things. But most people miss the simple things, because we don’t slow down enough to notice them, much less appreciate them.

All while doing our part to improve the soil for the next generations of…

-Farmers and ranchers
-Livestock
-Pollinators
-Wildlife
-Mircobiology

A regenerative farmer understands that it isn’t just the important of the movement today that makes a difference, but truly understanding this…

I may never sit in the shade of a tree that I plant today.

Today, your farmers celebrate 14 years of marriage!

Farming takes grit, but if you’re married also takes a strong relationship built on trust. Which complete transparency: We only have made it this far because of how God has changed both, provided for, and gifted community for us.

Grateful that we get to live this life together and share bits and pieces with you, while providing opportunities to get nutrient dense foods for your family and community around you.

⭐️⭐️ESTHER⭐️⭐️

This is Esther and she got her name because of her first impression on us when she came here.

Her first time on the milk line she was nervous a little as most are, but was bold and stepped right up like a champ so she received her name after a bold woman in The Bible.

Esther is one of favorite cows, because she is heavy on the affection and is gentle with people as a whole.

Esther is a HIGH producer, that gives 8-10 gallons at her peak which is a BIG deal on a small farm.

Esther is always hungry and really enjoys the sun.

Lastly, she is about to calve so we should see her on the milk link within the month of March for sure.

⭐️⭐️WILLOW⭐️⭐️

Let’s introduce the dairy crew one at a time.

Willow:
-She has been with us for a short time, but it’s doing great in our fault rhythms.
-Her name: Comes from her first time in the milking stand. She was so nervous because she wasn’t used to being around people and she had a couple of tears fall while learning our daily routine. So weeping willow it was.
-She still is getting comfortable, still isn’t a big fan of affection.
-She does however respond to words of affirmation, which is interesting. How do we know? She was not giving milk, so I just took some time, relaxed, gave her time to eat and told her “I appreciate you”, “you’re doing great in a new place”, “You got this!”, “Just relax and enjoy your food”, and then before i know it she was giving milk extremely well.
-She eats a BOATLOAD!
-She also has a shorter tail than everyone else for some reason, but it’s about half as long as everyone else.
-When she is done in the milk stand, she stops eating and just stares at you until you let her out.
-She will be a sweetheart for sure, it’ll just take some time.

The boys are doing my job.

Any time our boys ask, “Dadda, can I come with you?” I usually say yes. Very rarely do I say no, but sometimes it just isn’t the time and space for them to come help or be a part.
But the reason why I do, is because these boys are learning work ethic, principals of life, skills, values, how we make money, why it’s important to keep showing up, etc. by joining in.
Does it slow me down? Yes. But I believe that’s the point.

These boys are growing into men. Men that love Jesus, love people, and work hard. These are boys that I am proud of and one day I will walk alongside and still be proud to be their dad.

How do we determine the value of something? If what we’re doing is possible, worth it, or good… it needs to be sustainable, reproducible, and passed on to the next generation.
If not, the buck stops with me. This good work, stops with me. When my life ends, it will ends with me.
Leadership doesn’t just build relationship, systems, or a business based on personal ability, but on sustainability so that we might leave a legacy.
This is what inspires young people to jump in, believe, and start a movement.

Some who are doing this that inspire me, encourage me, and teach me.
