Another great batch of birds came in and we are grateful to get to have a team that makes sure that each birds is in good health, gets plenty of water, their environment is good, and their water has plenty of minerals and vitamins to help their bodies start growing strong and healthy.

T-minus 55 days and we will be harvesting one of the largest groups of birds that we’ve ever done in one group. Thanks to PastureTek schooner that we have, that allows us to steward the lives of over 500 birds in one group at a time.

As well as 𝕵𝖆𝖓𝖊 & the Lion Bakehouse and her team walking through this journey with us, to help provide healthy and nutrient dense foods for the community around us. Raising the level of each plate set in front of each customer that chooses to support local by eating at Jane & The Lion Bakehouse

Hard day on the farm.

If you’re a fixer and you want to help fix the problem, i promise you everything was done that could have been done. Unfortunately geographically where we are located, water can rise pretty quick because the drainage is not great(working on making it better) and water rose very fast.
Rising water and chickens do not mix well.

We had no “high ground” to move them to, which created a very tough space to be in. We had to move them to the highest ground possible and trust that we have done our best.
However, that wasn’t enough because nature took its portion.
This is the reality. Does it happen often? No. But it happens and when it does, it’s sucks.

Informing one of the most important things that I have learned, is that every farmer and rancher needs really good boots. I have tried every boot that you could think of, and not a single one of them lasted more than 8 to 10 months. They didn’t last through every season however, I bought a pair of boots over a year and a half ago, and they have really been the best.

Super grateful for an American maid boot, that I can trust, that doesn’t hurt my feet, but protects my feet.

it’s time for a new pair.

These boots are like an old friend, a good friend, because they are consistently supporting me in every season, loading, livestock, sorting livestock, moving feed, going fishing with my kids, Pickin, wallflowers, caring for day, old, poultry, and trucking it through the wet seasons in Texas. Oh the things these boots have seen…
