After fireants infiltrated a nest under their mama Waterlove, I had to relocate the eggs. I had to open up 2 a little wider to pick the fireants off their faces. Those things are vicious- as soon as baby pips they are climbing in that tiny hole to eat. And bringing friends. Unfortunately the nest change confused Waterlove who was desperate to get back to her coop where she had been with her eggs. Luckily I had a broody silkie, Belle, who gladly sat on them and is finishing up their hatch. Good mama! Ill be giving waterlove some eggs from the incubator once I can get her successfully moved on some fake eggs out of the coop where im fighting fireants off.

I put down barn lime, sulfar, and a mix of thr herbs I use for them that is HEAVY on the red pepper. So far no more ants but im concerned they may be back. So better off inside the barn for hatching instead of the big outside coop.

Chicken embryo on day 16. So close to hatching - but unfortunately the shell had been broken. You can see the yolk, which would normally be absorbed by the chick before hatching on day 21.
