Our spring flower CSA is well underway 🏵🏵🏵

The last few weeks have been filled with beautiful bouquets for our CSA recipients made up of the most beautiful selection of flowers on the farm that week. Our flower farmer, Fain, had been doing an amazing job of selecting and arranging the bouquets that get picked up each Friday.

Thank you to all our community members supporting our Flower CSA this spring, and if you are interested in joining the summer flower CSA there is still time to join!

Our summer flower CSA will start in mid June - if you are interested in joining, shoot us a direct message or email for more info!

This stretch of the season feels like anticipation more than arrival. Everything is waiting, but definitely not passively.

It’s officially spring, even if the cold hasn’t fully let us go, and you can feel it here on the farm. There’s energy building, under the soil, in the stems, and in the crew too. We are all so ready to move into warm weather and sunnier days.

Even though the winter has dragged on, you can feel spring in the subtle shifts: pockets of warm air moving through the wind, the light lingering longer each evening, early buds and shoots right
at the edge of opening, and the return of animal songs: birds, frogs, insects signaling the season’s turn.

Here we see:
1. Lupins tucked in the field
3. Peony shoots just breaking the surface
2. Hyacinths patiently waiting to bloom
4. A spring peeper making a bed in zinnia seedlings
5. Forget-me-nots, a little taller each day

It won’t be long now!

Regenerative farming is rooted in prevention, working with natural rhythms instead of reacting after the fact.

This month we introduced lacewing eggs into our ranunculus tunnel as part of our biological pest management. Once they hatch, the larvae get to work, feeding heavily on aphids and helping keep populations in check naturally. The lacewing adults also assist with this throughout the season, but the 2-3 weeks of hungry larva really consume large amounts of aphids at a critical time when the ranunculus are putting on rapid spring growth.

Tunnels create ideal growing conditions for crops and pests, so bringing in beneficial insects is key to maintaining balance without relying on chemical sprays.

Tiny eggs now then a lot of quiet yet important work to come!
