A quick update on the two Friesian/Percheron crosses that came in for training earlier this month. Spoiler alert: they're doing great! They've been a lot of fun to work with, and we're thankful for the opportunity to bring them along 😊

Something funny for your Friday 🎢🀣

Say hello to our 2 new arrivals: Ferdi (not to be confused with our own Ferd, the off track thoroughbred) and Preacher! These two big boys started working with us today, and we're excited to see how they progress!

Some of the lateral movements they were learning on the ground today will be very beneficial for their work under saddle in a few days once they've settled in. We always want to encourage the horse to move forward and away from pressure, to keep the hind end engaged but respectful, and be aware of all corners of their balance and footfalls. Control of the shoulder and haunches is paramount to a balanced horse, and you cannot correctly move one without taking the other into account.

Enjoying the sounds of the world waking up with Aaron this morning πŸ’›

Jessica and Ferd had the honor and privilege of riding under the eye of the wonderful Jennie Loriston-Clarke. A lifelong equestrian, she represented Great Britain at multiple Olympic games, and has judged both eventing and dressage internationally.

While both knowledgeable and exacting, her kindness and understanding put us all at ease as we did our best to soak up even just a drop from the bucket of her horsemanship and ability.

Thank you to Silver Oak Farm for inviting us and affording us such an incredible opportunity to learn and grow from the very best!

Name a better start to the week. We'll wait πŸ˜‰

Hope this gives you a chuckle.... Strider, the 2 year old, showing off his stick. Wonder if he used it to tear up the fence we had to fix Thursday morning (wasn't so funny then!).

And yes, his blanket is a little tight. Had to scramble to find a spare since he destroyed his nice Weatherbeeta earlier in the week.... Good Grief Charlie Brown! 🀣🀣

Cold and Peaceful πŸ’ž

18 degrees+wind chill = feels like 11 degrees for breakfast. All horses are doing good and ate all their salty, soupy oatmeal. "Miss" Scarlet was the only one who looked at me with an expression of, 'What is this and how dare you change my breakfast from what I ordered." Gotta love the red mares πŸ˜‚
