The top Guernsey cows in the 🇺🇸 for “CFP” Combined Fat & Protein were announced for 2024 last month by the American Guernsey Association. We will be honoring some of these cows over the next few weeks in no particular order…
Our 11th feature is the long-lived, 9-Year-old that has made multiple extreme milk records over her lifetime. She’s Jensgolden Cordell Onala, a Cordell daughter backed by the VG-88 Gold Star Dam Double L Onalyn cow that had over 9 lactations in her own right. Both cows were bred by the Jens-Gold Farms, LLP herd before Onala arrived to Hoard's Dairyman and dam, Onalyn to Valley Gem Farm, Inc.. Onala is EX-90 and was designated Gold Star Dam in 2020 and the current #51 cow in the breed for index. She is +518NM$ which ranks her 5th in the breed for active cows. She is also +5.5 Productive Life which holds very true in her pedigree and actual performance. She is dam to the #2 youngsire in the breed, Dairyman Checkmate Olaf. He is A1/A2 though, but remains #2 also for NM$. Although Onala has made multiple higher records than her last year’s record, it’s not too shabby for that many lactations/age.
