There's just something about the quiet moments after a busy week.

The animals are fed, chores are wrapping up, and for a little while, everything slows down.

Farming teaches you patience, responsibility, hard work, and the importance of appreciating the little things.

Not every day is easy, but every day brings something to be thankful for.

Red Wattle pigs aren't your everyday hog!

These heritage pigs are known for a few pretty neat characteristics:

🐽 Their distinctive wattles that hang from either side of their neck.

❤️ Their beautiful red coloring.

🌾 Their reputation for being hardy, adaptable livestock.

🐷 Their history as an American heritage breed.

Here at Lucht Farms, we're proud to be raising Red Wattles and doing our part to keep interest in this unique breed alive.

We're looking to bring some new genetics into our Red Wattle herd here at Lucht Farms!

We're searching for a younger, healthy Red Wattle boar with different bloodlines to continue building our breeding program.

Your boots are never actually clean.

A quick trip outside turns into a two-hour project.

Farm Life Friday 🚜

Farm life isn’t always picture perfect.

Sometimes it’s early mornings, late nights, broken equipment, muddy boots, escaped animals and plans changing about five times before noon. 😂

But then you get evenings in the pasture, healthy animals and the satisfaction of watching something you raised thrive.

Those are the moments that make it worth it. ❤️

One of the breeds you’ll see around Lucht Farms is the Red Wattle!

Besides their unmistakable red color and wattles, we enjoy raising them because of their hardy nature and usefulness as a heritage hog breed.

We’re excited to continue improving our herd and raising quality pigs here on the farm.
