Taproot Stud Quality Irish Hunters for Jumpers, Event and Field. TSH is a small Irish Sport Horse breeding operation standing ISH stallion Taproot Dutch Diamond.

Taproot's goal is to breed sound, sane athletes to be competitive jumpers, event and first flight field hunters suited to the ambitious amateur rider. We breed for movement, jump and stamina to be competitive in the big rings. We use a combination of Irish Draught with Thoroughbred and 'blood' warmbloods to create an elegant, noble horse with the aesthetic and performance of a classic Irish hunter

Taproot Falco is by Taproot Diamond Peregrine out of Penitence. This pairing was designed by us to make the dreams of an ambitious rider come to fruition. He has beautiful gaits, learns quickly and has a strong work ethic.

We are dropping Taproot Aspen off at Jubilee Tuesday and looking forward to following her development and sale. We have a few more lighter bred youngsters available as we finalize the event breeding program. You’ll be seeing more Hunt Night types moving forward.

Really good quality Irish Sport. Perfect legs. Excellent prospects. Good movers. All should hunt but quality for show. Priced fairly considering what it takes to make one these days (low 20🥕)

I have 3 mares available for hunt lease this season.

Penitence- 2 seasons. Rate-able, simple, typical TB type ride. Big bodied 16.1

Janie- 1 season. Best 2 or 3rd flight. Limited jumping experience but willing. Zippy and fun. Safe for good riding Junior. Rider under 160 # 15.1h

Rua- prospect. Would like her to stay 2nd or 3rd flight with a quiet club. Big bodied 16.1.

We have no set procedure for weaning. Weather, temperaments, grass quality are factors in the process.

Strike the Bell is headed to her new home in a few weeks and it was time for Junior to venture the world alone. We partnered him up with Regent ‘25 as a mentor.

This is the 3rd time we’ve used yearling colts to babysit weanlings and it’s gone well.

Junior is pushy. Pushy enough mare babysitter would maybe hurt him. A playmate was the better choice. They had a few days in a 14x28 stall and will be trying out the paddock tonight. We were very concerned Junior would jump out the window and we decided to temporarily close for peace of mind.
